CHAPTER 40: FINALLY FREE

Cynthia laid on the floor in her room, the rented apartment Jason got. Her phone beside her, just a few inches above her head.

Her mind wandered to the things she had gotten herself into, now it was too late to stop or opt out. Her ringing phone dragged her subconscious mind back to the surface. The caller ID showed Adrian.

Tired and frustrated, with no iota of enthusiasm, she picked up at the second ring without saying a word.

"Is my darling Cynthia pissed at me?" Adrian teased over the phone.

"Just say what you want and get it over with," she hissed into the phone. "I handed the documents to you, can you please leave me alone now?"

"Not so fast love, according to the research I made, the documents are useless for now."
