Matthew stood in front of the door while Rose stared at him from the bed.
Upon seeing him, "go away" were the only words that came out of her mouth.
Matthew did not move. “No,” he said. He stepped closer toward Rose.
Rose pushed herself up the bed, trying to stay away from Matthew. “Go away!” She shouted.
Matthew didn’t want to attract attention so he stopped. “Rose, relax. I just want to talk.”
“No, we can’t talk. We can’t…” Rose shook her head slowly as she said.
Matthew spoke as softly as he could. “Please.” He looked deeply into Rose’s eyes, trying to be as innocent and sincere as he could. Luckily, it worked and Rose gave in. She nodded once but refused to look at Matthew.
Matthew eased up and stood in place. Matthew thought about what to say f
from her eyes.In a cafe that was not very busy, two elves were sitting at a table by a window of the cafe. Rain and Layla stared at their drinks that neither of them touched yet.“So uhh, would you like to explain?” Rain spoke first and asked a question.Layla’s head fell down and hung from her shoulder. “What am I even supposed to explain?” Then her head sprung up as she almost shouted at Rain. “He got back before I even noticed!”“Yeah right. Good thing you contacted me before I actually went to the mountains.” Rain picked up his cup and took a sip. He shook his head violently and stuck out his tongue in disgust. “What is this?”“Just coffee of my taste.”“It’s so bitter. You really like this?” Rain pointed to the cup that he was still
Knights in silver armour were marching in a formation. Each of them synchronized their footsteps as they marched into the mouth of the open gate of a castle. Carts carrying edible goods were being checked by other knights before letting them pass through. The carts stopped in front of a storage house where they were stopped by a pair of knights on duty. The knights took a glance at the goods and at the receipt handed by the merchant. After that, the merchant parked his cart in the back of the storage house where he usually would. He got down from the carriage and checked his surroundings. Then he moved to the back of the cart and flipped.“Hey, I think it’s safe to come out.” He whispered.A pair of eyes took a peek and observed the surroundings first before coming out. He silently came down from the back of the cart while still watching his surroundings. Once he was sure, he faced
A few days later.Rose had significantly recovered from her trauma thanks to Matthew. Now she was sitting in the library, reading books as she usually would on a normal day. The book she was reading was titled: King of Chaos, The Scarlett King. The contents were about the characteristics of Leviticus Scarlett, his life story, his uprising and his end. Details including his family and empire were also written. Rose had the past few days learning about it.The door squeaked open and Matthew entered the library. He looked at the wall where the paint was not really matching in colour to the rest of it. Then he walked towards the table where Rose was sitting.“What volume are you on now?” He asked as he pulled a chair opposite of Rose to sit on.“The last one. It’s just everything about the Scarlett War.”“So quick! Do you read
Inside a room with five people, three were sitting on a couch, one person was sitting in a chair behind a desk and another stood beside him. There was a coffee table in between the couch and the desk.Matthew, Cecilia and Rose stared at the person behind the desk in silence. Jack was looking at a few pages inside the files on his desk while Sara stood and watched them. After some time, Jack finally sorted all the papers and set the files aside. He interlocked his fingers and glanced over the faces of the Hunters in front of him. After getting a good look, he finally spoke. “First and foremost, I welcome you. It’s not everyday that I myself do a promotion interview.”The young Hunters’ faces were tense. Clearly, they were nervous. Of course they were, who wouldn’t be? Jack understood this feeling long ago every time he went to a promotion interview. He smiled. “Don&
Matthew, Rose and Cecilia were being dragged by a group of armed knights. Their heads were covered with black bags to hide their faces as they were escorted to somewhere else. After some time, they stopped and were forced to kneel on the ground and their bags were finally taken off their heads. They were surrounded by knights and also Hunters who were also armed as if they were about to go on a quest. Walls also surrounded the entire area and there were a few small buildings not far from them.“Where are we?” Matthew’s question was not directed to anyone. He saw the scared look on Cecilia’s face while Rose seemed more nervous than scared. He wanted to ask her what was on her mind, but he didn’t when the crowd started opening up in front of them.A man in black armour strode forth until he was in front of them and stopped. Harold, the Black Knight, carefully watched the faces of the three kne
Matthew dashed forward and headed straight for Harold. Harold immediately ran in the opposite direction. However, due to carrying Rose, he could not run as fast as he could and Matthew quickly caught up to him.Luckily, the Hunters, who were on standby, were able to intercept him. Matthew turned his attention to the problem in front of him first. The Hunters attacked him.One man with a broadsword swung his sword down on Matthew. Matthew caught the sword with one hand and punched the man with his other. The was sent crashing through the wall, creating a hole in it.Matthew proceeds to lash out his claws at another Hunter. He raised his shield to protect himself but the force behind Matthew’s attack was powerful enough to cause him to fall over. Before Matthew could stomp and crush the man’s head, another Hunter saved him. The shield wielding Hunter thanked the wolfman who saved him. The w
Sara and Matthew were facing off each other. She took the form of her stance that had been passed down in her lineage. She took a deep breath and controlled the mana flow in her body.Matthew dashed forward with incredible speed. Sara easily dodged him and slashed at his right thigh. To her surprise, her attack did not affect Matthew at all.“His scales are really tough.” She had expected this. A being with that much power was only expected to have a very sturdy body.“[Greater Speed], [Greater Strength], [Thought Acceleration], [Power Boost], [Iron Body].” Sara casted a few buff spells on herself to increase her performance.“[Crane Dance]!” With the buffs, she attacked Matthew repeatedly. Matthew was taking injuries, although none were fatal or deadly, and he was being pushed back by Sara’s rapid slashes.Matthew got irritated by her an
A little while before Megat and Shiro arrived at the battle, they had just teleported into the city. Megat immediately searched for Matthew’s signature.“Found him. There’s someone else there too.” Megat said to Shiro as he was just about to sprint towards them.“Hold on Megat.” Before he did, a familiar voice stopped him. Megat knew exactly who it was.Megat turned around and found the man in a blue suit standing in front of him with a pink haired girl in his arms.“Loki, what have you done?” Megat asked him.“My plan is going smoothly.”“Your plan? Your plan was to make Matthew go through that again?!” Megat honestly wanted to punch the man but knowing that he would drop Rose made him hold back the urge.“I understand that you are angry and that this is not th
