Chapter 23. A Lie

Ryn's eyelids moved slowly as her ears heard the faint humming. She opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was the refractive light from the window.

"So, what is it this time?" Lance's voice sounded from the left side of the bed. The man was sitting at the window when he jumped and walked towards the bed. "You have a new hobby of sleeping on the floor, huh?" he asked with one eyebrow raised.

"Me? What the--" The girl's words trailed off as the memory of the last thing that happened to her last night flashed through her mind. She turned her head quickly toward Lance with widened eyes. "What happened to me?" she asked.

Lance opened his jaw with narrowed eyes. The question left him clueless. Ryn's strange behavior was no surprise to him, but this question seemed even more confusing.
