‘Let’s grab lunch together?’
I quickly clicked on the send button and shoved my phone back inside my pocket. I lift my head up only to find Olive who is few feet ahead of me. It would be great to be wrapped in my blanket at this sunny weekend. But no. My idiot ass just have to agree with Olive to go for a morning jog. I groaned as I run to reach her, matching our pace.
“What are you? Fifty?” She asked sarcastically.
I rolled my eyes as I’m running beside her, “you better treat me a nice breakfast after this.”
I heard she scoffed, “you are not helping me losing any weight.”
“You talk as if you aren’t skinny enough. If anything, you should eat more. We are definitely eating every carbo, proteins, vitamins, whatever helps you to grow.”
She suddenly stopped in track. I look back and saw her annoyed face, probably murderi
I let out a relief sigh as I threw myself on my bed and stared blankly at the ceiling. I glanced over the clock, it shows a little bit past ten. I blindly reached my phone on the bed to check if I got any replies from Rosie.Of course. None. It’s been a few days she ignored me.I mentally huffed and checked on another chat. There are few chats from Bryan and some other group chats asking if anyone is up for lunch. Oh, and some chats from Olive. I shoot a quick reply to the group chats saying I can’t make it. I’ll reply to Bryan and Olive later.A short knock making me put down my phone. I don’t need to ask who as the door creaks opened. Ayle’s head pokes out as she peeps through the crack of the door.“Can I come in?”I sit straight and lean on the headboard, “you already are.” I saw her right foot has stepped inside my room. She smiled sheepishly and walk inside. Ayle sit on the corner o
“Stop coming to my house! Stop coming to my workplace! Stop coming to wherever I might possibly be!!”A very dangerous creature, as known as a fuming Rosie, is killing me under her deathly gaze right now. As stupid as it sounds, I follow Ayle’s advice and come to visit Rosie at her workplace. I arrived a little bit earlier before her shift starts. I gave my best smile and big wave as I spot her getting out of the cab.Her eyes widen in a split second before turning into an angry expression and stomping her feet towards me.“Just because you have a crush, doesn’t mean I have to stop seeing your, right? We are friends anyway.”“Friends my ass.” She muttered under her breath.“Seriously though. Can you stop pushing me away? I won’t cross my line. I just want to see you.”Rosie is about to turn her heels around, but I grabbed her hand. Maybe it caught her off guard. Her eyes sligh
“Hold up.”Bryan clasped both his hands. With his brows furrowed, his eyes are going back and forth between Ayle and I.“So you guys were saying that your dad offers you two to work with him? I thought both of you aren’t in a really ‘good term’ with him?” Bryan asked, confirming his thoughts while air-quoting his words.“Come to think about it, he wasn’t that bad. Right, Alex?” Ayle tries to hide her mischievous smile but failed miserably. It’s almost ten and we are just chilling on the living room. Bryan chose to crash here tonight since he keeps on complaining about being bored living alone.“I guess it has something to do with the distance.” I chug on the bottle of coke before continuing. “We rarely meet, barely talk.”Bryan might know some stories about my family, but not all. All he knows about my dad is that we didn’t have a good relationshi
“You just won’t stop, right?”Rosie sounds tired.“Because you are avoiding me.”She sighed. I heard some faint shuffling sounds from the other line. She must be in bed right now.“Is it because of your crush? Or my mom?”“Hm?”“You are avoiding me. Why?”There is a moment of silence. I couldn’t see her face, therefore I can’t guess what’s inside her head right now. Was she thinking about the best words to ask me to stop courting her? Did she want to confront about how bad my mom was? Or is it about me who didn’t even try to defend her during the dinner?One.Two.Silence.I mentally start counting to ten. If by then, she still hasn’t answered… I don’t know. I should have asked someone who is experienced with this situation. Maybe
Monday isn’t as bad as usual.I got a text from Rosie saying she just woke up and will probably go back to bed since she got a three P.M shift. She responded to my invitation about meeting soon by informing she has a day off tomorrow. I shoot her an okay and will get back to her if we can hang out after my working time.Bryan left early, saying he has to go back to his house since he left some documents there. I prepared some bacon and egg for breakfast. I sent Ayle a photo of the food, signaling her I left some for her.“You seem in a good mood, Mr. Angelo.”I snapped my head up towards the door, where Maggy stands. She has piles of documents on her hand.“Good morning, Ma’am.” I smiled politely, “anything I can help you with?”“No,” she shook her head, “just don’t forget to submit the reviewed articles today. We need it on Thursday.”“I will, don&rsq
“Can I visit you at work later?” “Sure, if you want. It will be less crowded since it’s Monday.” I smiled seeing her puffy cheeks munching her food. It’s lunch time and to say I was surprised, will be an understatement. My soul leaves my body as I got a notification that Rosie tried to facetime me. I’m starting to think Barachiel hasn’t left my side since last night. “Have you had your lunch?” “Yeah, right before you called me.” Rosie nodded and didn’t say anything further. She continued munching on her fried chicken and sometimes bobbing her head approvingly. I secretly took a few screenshots because why not? Come to think about it, we didn’t have any photos together. “I won’t be working tomorrow because I have somewhere to go. Let’s meet for lunch?” “Okay,” she nodded, “where are you going?” “Meeting my dad.” “Oh?”She seems surprised. The last thing I told her about my dad is he divorced my mom to marry his mistress. It might leave
The sitting position itself is already awkward. We are sitting on each sides of this rectangular marble table inside dad’s office. Dad reminds his secretary that no one could interrupt our meeting today. With a firm nod, his secretary leaves after placing our drinks on the table that I know for damn sure, won’t be drunk. Our eyes instantly met as I looked over Ayle who is sitting across me, as if she has been watching me since earlier.‘Let’s get this done.’I’m not sure if she will get it right, but I hope the telepathy reached her as I gave her a slight nod.Dad cleared her throat and face mom with a small smile, “it’s been awhile, Maia. How are you doing?”“Enough with the crap, Andrew.” Mom snapped, almost immediately after dad finished his question. “Care to explain what is this?”Mom’s eye bags scream tiredness. But her eyes do scream
“You sure you don’t need a ride?”Ayle doesn’t even spare me any glance as she is busy typing on her phone, “my friend will pick me up.”“Who?”She looked at me weirdly. We are currently in a café near dad’s office. The meeting went worse than we imagined. Maybe a cup of coffee will help.I raised my right brow, waiting for her answer. As if she knows what I meant, she scoffed. “If you were meant to ask if it’s John, no, it isn’t. I don’t have anything to do with him, since the day you literally threaten me, okay?”“You know I can tell if you are lying.”This girl clicked her tongue. “Have a little faith in me, will you?” She then rolled her eyes and turned her focus back on her phone.“Okay, I’ll choose to trust you this time.”Ayle let out a fake forced smile, “wow, thank you. How generous
