5-what nightmare haunts you?

Emerson POV,

I could feel it under me. The warmth of the bed, its silk, was so soft that I tossed and turned and sniffed the warm scent in my eyes. They were too heavy, like gum they were sticky together and I couldn't move them.

I slid my leg into the slippers and got off the bed, with a banging head I pulled myself like a log towards the door.

'How did we get in?' my wolf asked me. I drop my hand on the table.

I shrug observing the unusual sound coming from downstairs. It stills for a moment but then picks up pace again. I reach the corner, calming my breath.

'I have no idea.'

"Fuck! How could you have been so careless just when I thought you could look after her? You let her wander around!"

The voice made my leg tilt to a halt on the staircase, Alpha Loworth, the more time I spend eavesdropping on them the more I'm eager to leave here- the origin of my headache and to what extent everything went yesterday night get me worked up.

I feel bad for my wolf. I knew we had done something terrible that got this thick voice echoing through the room with phlegm.

"I'm sorry Alpha, but she was unusually stubborn."

The other feminine voice chimed in. I moved my head forward taking a sneak peek at them downstairs. That voice was from yesterday night.

What's surprising me is the fact that I have lost track of every single detail but my nights were filled with thoughts of Alpha Loworth, While I slept my wolf lived a world of its own I felt it how I knew.

"Wren" I hummed out her name.

"Yes, that is Wren. You got on her bad side real quick."

I became scared. When it comes to New Orleans I don't know if I should say I have been blessed or I should say that I have been given for a worse case.

"I did not do anything, how could I be on her bad side?" I tilt my head to the corner taking in Monaco's profile, his chiselled face although it was not as sharp as Alpha Loworth's. The feistiness is how I have not been able to forget about him even when I forget everything. He ignored me for ten minutes.

'We can't forget our saviour.'  my wolf muttered. 'Moreover, he's our mate.'

"We can't be so sure he is a saint, he let us be so drunk and now I'm having a hard time recalling what happened yesterday. He even denied us. . ." I stretched my wolf and became silent. I don't want to have my hopes up for yesterday's Alpha.

"Alpha Loworth suggested I hand you this." Monaco stretched his hand, stepping closer.

I craned my head, eyes fixed on the powder, and what it does.

"What is this?" I ask.

"It's hunger over medicine,"

"You can throw it away if you're so unsure." A deep voice cuts in and I snap back my hand.

His height was condescending, even with a stair loop between us I felt intimidated by his height. "Let's get this right, I don't want any concoction from you again."

Does this matter? I peeped down as my fingers were digging into my palm, my heart selling me off by thudding hard against my chest, I can't deny his audience affects me. My denial was no dim fit to my emotions.

He snapped it. "She looks fine, and by the way no one told her to come to where she was not invited." He gave me the most annoying look and I glared back at him. "Her hazel eyes are still in peak condition, no need for the hangover at least ."

He reminded me of the part of me that I have forgotten within this period, I haven't been this stupid and obscenely insecure before. His eyes lingered on me down to my cleavage. I quickly wrapped my hands around my chest and groaned disgustedly. "Way too early to look at a lady like that."

He went away from me, I pinned my side to the wall behind me, and he then spoke to Monaco.

"Monaco, be ready, we have a packed meeting to attend later." He patted his beta shoulder.

I feel like storming him right now, must he make his intention of bringing me to his pack house known too soon? And he dared not tend to my curiosity.

"Be careful Alpha Loworth is quite temperamental."

"Oh, believe me, I'm more daring than he could ever think of." Monaco stopped on his track down the foyer, he gave me a helping hand and I thanked him. But his expression was cold unlike the latter. "Wait! Did I say something wrong?"

"You're quite daring, that will get you into trouble quickly." Quickly? I rub my chin, recalling the Incident from last night.

"Is there something I don't know?" I asked Monaco but he shriveled and walked towards the double door by the right yanking it open.

"So long as you lay low and stay under Alpha Loworth's protection, there is no doubt you will do well."

"He neglected the fact that I'm his mate."

He didn't answer right away, he moved and became slower and deliberate his looks were intense, and I looked desperate that instant.

"Do you know how many girls will die to be my mate?"

I draw my step back. "Like when YOU'RE being a prick!" Everyone told me to take in everything that Nicholas had thought me to be immediately after my parents passed on. I then came to a realization. "Alpha. . ." I chuckled. "A proud lothario at that."

I couldn't, even when he forced me into being his maid for the fun of it. There were times I yelled back and glared at him. I was afraid of him but the thought of him claiming so much power and leverage over me was taunting enough. "What? He is a prick, Nicholas was a taut but never a womanizer as your Alpha," I rolled my eyes. The pitch of my voice was so high that I night passed the yard of the foyer to the whole building.

"What nightmare haunts you? You must be stupid to say that out loud." Monaco yelled and pulled me along with him.

"Why? Is there something wrong in chastising the Alpha's bad doings?"

"Yes, especially in New Orleans, You might think you're still in Lafayette but I can't protect you nor will the Alpha if the people start hating you."

I pulled back. "There is nothing to be afraid of, Alpha Loworth. Either take responsibility or take me back home, it's in the contract."

"Here." Alpha Loworth said from behind handing me a document. "Your brother or your Alpha, whichever it is sent over this morning. There is no contract, it was a fair win."

"Kill her if you want but make sure she never steps foot into Lafayette." I read out.

This is unbelievable. "

"A lothario like me should think of a way to kill you, I think that will be fun." He cupped his hand around my cheeks and I peered at him. , "Alpha Nicholas your brother don't care what I do to you." When I look at him my emphasis magnifies. Which is why I don't want to look at him but his hands around my cheeks make it impossible.

"I've been waiting to know your true intention towards me Alpha Loworth of New Orleans," I was not sure what this thread of mate was like,
