Chapter 6

Tasha was a woman, after all. When she saw Rudy approaching menacingly, she grabbed Calla's arm in fright.

Calla looked at Tasha, who was panicking, and Cedric, who was at death's door. Then, she glared at Rudy and yelled, "If you insist on causing trouble, I'll call the cops and tell them you were the ones that killed Grandpa!

"Then, I will contact newspaper publishers and tell them we have news that will make the headlines. A veteran killed by his evil son's antics. He isn't even dead yet, but his son was already after his property. This will surely attract a lot of attention!"

Calla had no respect for Rudy at all. He hadn't been a father to her all these years.

One time, the situation got so hard that she asked for money from him. Not only did he refuse to give her any money, but he had also slapped her. Despite that, he provided Peggy with a pampered life.

Calla swore to herself that she would never acknowledge Rudy as her father.

She was able to intimidate Rudy and the other two with her words.

Rudy looked at Cedric, who was on the bed, and began to hesitate.

Jill noticed that and started to stomp her foot. "You brat, you can't scare us with that! Rudy, teach her a good lesson!"

Calla thought for a moment and had an idea. She quickly took out her phone and dialed a number. "Hello, is this the police?"

"You little… Give me the phone!" Rudy rushed toward her in desperation to grab her phone.

Calla dodged and ran to the other side of the bed. Tasha saw what was happening and tried to stop Rudy.

"Rudy, if you don't leave now. I will tell reporters that you're agents for an insurance company. Let's see if anyone would buy insurance from you bastards!" Tasha threatened as she pointed at Rudy.

Rudy and Jill exchanged glances. They knew they wouldn't get anything done by sticking around. They might even get into a lot of trouble.

So, they decided to leave. Jill tilted her chin up and said, "I'm tired. I'll deal with you next time."

She quickly left after she said that. Rudy and Peggy followed suit.

Calla sighed in relief after they left. "If a fight really broke out, Tasha and she would be at a great disadvantage."

Tasha held Calla's hand and said, "Calla, I'm so glad you're here today. Or else, they would definitely bully Maurice and me."

Calla wanted to reply, but a sudden pain in her stomach caused her to inhale sharply. Her face also paled from the pain.

"Calla, what's wrong?"

"It's nothing. I just… feel a little unwell," Calla said as her forehead broke out in sweat.

"Then, you should go home and rest. Maurice and I will be here to look after Dad," Tasha said anxiously.

"Okay… I'll head back now."

Calla left after she said that.

As soon as she exited the ward, she leaned against the wall. The pain in her stomach was getting unbearable.

Was it because she hit her stomach on the bed's railing when she was in the ward? She wasn't a frail person at all. Why would that cause her so much pain?

She thought the pain would pass after a while, but it never did. She had a bad feeling, so she hobbled to the emergency room.

After a series of examinations, she lay in bed with a pale complexion. She looked at the female doctor before her and asked anxiously, "Doctor, I hit my stomach on something hard just now. Did it cause some sort of damage?"

The doctor kept her head lowered as she scribbled on the medical record. "You're fine, but the baby isn't. You need to be hospitalized so we can keep the baby safe."

"Keep the what now?" Calla was stunned. How could she be pregnant?
