Ally's subsequent words shocked Calla to the core. "Mr. Garland really cares about you. When the workers called him, he immediately phoned me and asked me to head over to the hospital.

"He also took the earliest flight back to Riverford and sat by your bed throughout the night. He didn't even take a sip of water."

Calla couldn't close her mouth that had fallen open in surprise. She stared at Ally while asking in disbelief, "What?"

Now that she'd thought about it, Mercer's eyes were indeed rather reddish. When she looked outside, she realized that the sun had already risen. This meant that she'd slept for a day and a half.

Ally's eyes gleamed in admiration as she gushed, "You have no idea how nervous Mr. Garland was while you were being examined. It was the first time I've ever seen him so frazzled."

Calla appeared to have morphed into a teenage girl as she puckered her lips and complained, "Since he was so worried about me, why did he scold me so fiercely when I woke up?"
