60. Apology

That night, Gideon waited for Amelie in front of his grandparents' house. The man glanced at the watch on his wrist. It had been half an hour since he had waited for Amelie on the steps in front of the house.

From a distance, the man saw the person he was waiting for walking over. Gideon sighed heavily, remembering how embarrassing the incident at the tavern was yesterday.

"Doctor, uncle!" greeted Axel upon seeing the male entity sitting on the steps.

The man in the shirt stood up and immediately stroked Axel's hair.

Amelie sighed lazily. Gideon's face, which implied guilt, seemed to make her reluctant to look at the man's face.

"Come in, Axel," Amelie pleaded with her son.

The boy's two clear beads looked at Amelie and Gideon in turn. The looks of the two adults showed tension between each other. Axel had no choice but to nod and enter the house.
