CHAPTER SIX - FIRST DAY AT WORK

Chapter six

Back in Clara's ward....

Clara was on her phone chatting with her friends when she heard the door of her room open, she looked up and saw her parents. A smile appeared on her face but when she saw the expressions on their faces the smile disappeared.

Casper and Sharon's facial expressions showed that they were angry which means they were not successful with what they went to do.

"Dad.... Mom.... What happened? And why is your faces not looking good? Are you both angry?" Clara enquired.

"Clara, you would not believe what happened?" Sharon said angrily.

"What happened?" Clara asked. By now she knew that everything did not go as planned.

"That ungrateful and unfilial girl denied knowing who we are!" Sharon shouted.

"What?!" Clara exclaimed.

"And to make matters worse, she denied knowing us in front of Derrick Anders!" Sharon said painfully.

"Derrick Anders.... The Derrick Anders of J&D group?" Clara asked.

"Yes" Sharon said angrily. She started causing Ava.

Clara collapsed on her bed out of shock. She folded her hands until her hands were shining red. She was very angry and jealous.

Clara had always been jealous of Ava because firstly, Ava was much more prettier than her and because every guy that she liked preferred Ava over her. She was only lucky to be able to snatch Martin from Ava and now another man is close to her and not just any man but the powerful, rich and handsome Derrick Anders!

"What do you have that I don't Ava?" Clara thought to herself.

"Due to what Ava did, now Mr Anders would definitely have a bad impression of me and there is no way I would be able to curry favour from him! What kind of daughter did I give birth to? After all these years of taking care of her, she dares deny me?" Casper said angrily.

"Dear, you can always find a way to curry favour from Derrick Anders" Sharon said.

"How can we do that after everything that happened back there?" Casper asked. He rubbed his forehead with left hand and sighed.

"We can pretend to ask for forgiveness from Ava, I know that she would forgive us. After that we can pretend to love for her until we get what we want" Clara said confidently.

"Are you sure she would forgive us?" Casper asked.

"I am sure dad.... Very sure" Clara assured her father.

"Okay, if you think that would work, then we would try it out" Casper said.

"You do not need to worry about anything, mummy and dad will take care of things, you just need to recover and come back home...." Sharon said to her daughter.

"Thanks mum" Clara said with her eyes almost watery.

" I need to go back to the office now I still have some work to do" Casper said. He stood up and walked to the door of the room.

"Okay, take care honey" Sharon said.

"Hm" Casper said and walked out of the room.

Monday morning.....

J & D group.....

Ava walked into the company and went straight to the elevator. This time nobody stopped her because it had already been announced that she is the new personal assistant to the CEO of the company.

As Ava walked towards the elevator, she noticed the looks on the faces of the other colleagues in the company and could tell that they were gossiping about her but she paid no heed to them and continue walking into the elevator going to the CEO's floor.

The moment the elevator doors closed, people started talking and debating how she got to be the CEO's personal assistant and how lucky she is. Some of them badmouthed her while some were neutral and just listened to what the others said to avoid trouble for themselves.

"Look at how arrogant she was walking, acting all high and mighty because she is the CEO's personal assistant" one said.

" Exactly, who knows if she slept with the CEO to get the job" another employee said with the look of disdain on her face.

"How was it possible that she slept with the CEO when the CEO doesn't allow any woman to be close to him?" One of the neutral employee asked.

"It's obvious that she has a relationship with the CEO or she knows someone that is close to the CEO for her to get the position of the CEO's personal assistant " another employee said.

"Well she is very lucky that she gets to be by the CEO's side all the time" another employee said and sighed.

'Knock.... knock....knock' a light knock sounded at the door while Derrick was reading a document. He looked at his watch and could guess that the person at the door is Ava, a smile appeared on his face but hurriedly returned back to his cold demeanor.

"Come in" Derrick said.

Ava arranged her clothes, using her hand to clean the invisible dust her cloth and she walked in....
