Chapter 6

I could tell that something was going through Ember’s mind the whole time we ate. Something was bothering her and it was almost like she was hesitant to talk about it. Her mother had told us to get to bed since we would work early in the morning. I decided that I could sleep in Ember’s cabin since she had room to spare. I may not be sleeping on a bed but it was worth the warmth of the cabin. But as soon as I closed my eyes, I heard sniffling. I listened closely as the sniffling turned into crying and it was coming from Ember’s room. Was she crying? I don’t know if I should go in interrupting her sleep to see? “Go to her.” Drago sympathizes. I got off the floor to walk over to her door, the light still shining in her room. I knock softly.

“Come in.” She says with a little sadness in her voice. I opened the door carefully to see her and my heart shattered at the sight. Her cheeks and nose were red and puffy from crying as she also sniffled more.
