3: What was to come
Ken drops a big bowl of red meat before Jaclyn as she and Quinton sat at the dining table while he served dinner. Her stomach growled loudly on seeing the delicious-looking stake, and her cheeks heat of embarrassment.
After they got in, she had taken a shower and changed into another set of clothes, which was just as big as the grey shirt earlier, leaving her to believe they were Ken’s. He wasn’t huge, but he was bigger than her, for sure. She was grateful for the clothes but hoped they’d get new ones soon, perhaps after eating.
“I am starving. I feel like I haven’t eaten all day.”
Ken laughs. “You’re a werewolf now. You need food, meat, lots of it, so don’t waste any time before you eat.”
The bowl is empty within three minutes and Jaclyn takes the jug of water to her mouth, not stopping until she gulps the entire liquid down her throat. Ken watches in amusement but says nothing. He’s happy to have her back... Or at least a fraction

Two weeks later Ken stepped out of the cottage to get a few provisions from the next town store, and Jaclyn stayed inside and kept the door locked, just as Ken instructed. Two days after she regained consciousness, Jaclyn had woken up to a tug in her heart. The painful tug made her scream so loud she woke Ken and Quinton up, and they raced into her room to her aid. After the ache reduced, she explained what had triggered the outburst and Ken told her that her mark and bleeding heart were still healing, hence her pain. He added that her shift and transformation into a werewolf would have speeded up the healing process, but because her bleeding heart resulted from a ritual, its healing took longer than usual. Ken believed it would take a few months after her awakening for her healing to be completed and so she needed to stay at the cottage. Her eyes flutter to see the lights of the room on, illuminating it and making her eyes strain. She felt confused as she’d seen Ken turn it off before leaving earlier. She drags herself off the bed and walks to the switch to turn it off when she heard. “We didn’t get to finish our discussion.” She flinches and collapses against the door, her heart slamming to the cage of her chest and her breath becomes short. She turns and sees Logan, the alpha she had seen in the living room during the day, standing before her. A smile comes to his face, and she finds it creepy. “This is impossible.” “It isn’t.” “How are you here? Ken already warded the house!” she saw it with her own eyes and did not believe Ken tricked her. “He has, but I’m not in the house. I am in your head. Jaclyn wakes up with force, panting, and sweat breaks out on her skin and her body trembles. The nightmare she just had coupled with Logan’s words terrified her.The door opens and the lights flicker on and in the next minute, Ken sits beside her. Her lashes fluttered with the first ray of sunlight and she adjusted herself and turned around, only to meet Ken already awake. She narrows her brows even as her gaze remained locked on his and she wonders how long Mr Strange beside her had been awake. Her sleepy voice moans out, and she placed her head down on the pillow but stays awake. His hand comes to caress her face, causing a spark within her, and he felt it too. “Hey, did I wake you up?” he asks in a subtle voice. She shakes her head. “You didn’t, but you’re keeping me up now. “What’s the catch?” she asks, watching Logan closely as her claw withdraws and her hands transform into that of humans. They had spent not less than four hours training and perfecting how to retract the venom in her claw. The training took longer because they had started at a slower pace because of Jaclyn’s healing heart. However, the more it healed, the longer they took the training. Three weeks ago, her heart felt whole for the first time since waking up. So far, she had focused fully on mastering her control. They were both outside the cottage, dream walking, and surrounded by trees and the night sky. She chose here when they started training because of the sense of nearness to Ken. Also, the coldness of the night made her sweat less, which she found also affected her in real life. Logan taught her how to dream walk, as well as a few other things she didn’t think were possible. She waltzes over to him, wrapping her arms around his midsections and feeling the muscles built up there.
