Meeting the third

I didn’t come out of my room the whole day and Jena didn’t come for me. She left for work on her own and I mostly slept to drown my sorrow. After midnight when she came back home somewhere around three in the morning, I was up.

I couldn’t sleep anymore since that’s all I did the whole day but I didn’t go out to greet her and I wasn’t expecting her to come to me either. Deep down I was mortified that if I met her she might ask me to leave.

So, when there was one on the bedroom door, it scared the living shit out of me.

“Parisa,” She called my name, “Come out.” She demanded as if she knew I was up.

I didn’t respond at first but then she knocked again, “Come out, I know you’re up.” I heard her step back, “I’m waiting in the kitchen.” And then I heard her walk away.

I sat up on the bed and ran my fingers through my hair to tone them down. Then I took a deep breath, stood up, and walked out the door. I went to the kitchen where I saw Jena sitting on the chair. I walked to the t
