Chapter Twenty Four

Her world was spinning. She had known Michelle for barely two weeks, yet her death shook her to the core.

Deep down, when she pecked her and the little girl said goodbye, she had known.

She just didn't want to acknowledge it.

Tina hugged her tighter, sobbing uncontrollably.

Crystal wanted to scream at the world for being so cruel and unfair.

How was she supposed to console Michelle's mother when her own heart was breaking?

"I'm so sorry", she whispered, her voice breaking, "I'm so so sorry."

Tina only cried harder.

Her eyes went to the hospital bed in the room where Michelle had laid just few hours ago.

"Goodbye Crystal", her voice echoed.

Someone wrapped their hand around the two of them.

"I'm so sorry Tina."

After a while, Tina stopped crying. She cleaned her red and swollen face.

"I'm so sorry. I'm just a mess right now."

Nurse Mary nodded in understanding.

Staring back into the room, Tina whispered in a cracked voice, "I will just get the rest of her things and go.
