Chapter 40: The Lake House

Davien’s P.O.V

I’d been living with unrequited love for quite a while now and now that the person I am actually in love with just boldly declared that they love me back, I don’t know what to do with myself. After leaving the house of who I assume are her two friends from work, and my employees at the same time, we both got into the car and sat in silence for a while as Christian drove us home.

“Aren’t you going to say anything?” she asked me timidly, quite the contrary of the bravado she had displayed not even fifteen minutes ago.

Smirking inwardly, I decided to play oblivious and turn to her with ingenuine confusion. “What would you like me to talk about, Miranda? It’s been a rather long day so please be a bit more specific,” I said calmly, and I watched her face scrunch up in diluted impatience.

“Davien, I just told you I’m in love with you and now you suddenly don’t have anything to say about it?” she fired with narrowed eyes. I liked this side of hers, the one that spoke her mind
