Forty Two

This was the fifth time Ava was checking if there was going to be any sound from the car, but there was none. She couldn’t believe that they weren’t back after all these hours. What were they doing at work? She felt so bored, that she had put her phone aside and had also off the television. She sat in the living room hoping to catch the couple once they walked back inside.

She had no idea when she fell asleep, but the bright light of the car woke her up from her sleep. She pretended to be asleep while opening her lower eyes.

Amelia was the first to come inside in a different cloth than the one she had worn to the office that morning, while Mike followed behind her smiling. Amelia went to their room. Mike went to the refrigerator. The couple hadn’t spared her a glance, but she didn’t mind. She had never been alone with Mike since she came to the mansion, but finally, she was able to have him alone in the room. Ava stood up quietly, sneaking up behind him. She was about to w
