Thirty Three

The party was supposed to be modest – that was what Amelia had heard, but judging from the extravagant cars outside, and guards protecting most of the guests, she knew it was more than just a party. The hall was lavishly decorated and big enough to occupy lots of guests, but the guest was restricted to simply by invitation. Chairs were arranged in groups, and the stage holds one podium. Some goods were neatly arranged at a corner of the stage until they disappeared into a room close to the stage.

Amelia looked down at her herself; she was dressed in a simple black skirt and a button-down shirt. She was undressed for the occasion, even though she was only there as her husband's secretary. She didn’t dare stand next to him afraid she would look like a maid beside him, as she hurriedly follow behind him.

Mike noticing his wife’s falling footsteps, stopped for her to catch up with him. “Why are you walking behind like some kind of guard?”
