Thirty Nine

“You are joking, right?” Amelia asked with a frown.

“I am not. It’s best you start getting dressed before it’s late.” He opened the door and ushered her outside. Amelia frowned but she left his room while glancing back to see if Mike was following her. She sighed in relief when she knew he was still in his office, telling herself he must be joking about following her on a date. What sort of husband does that?

She closed her eyes knowing she wasn’t supposed to be going on a date too. What sort of wife does that? But she was left with little to no choice and had no idea what to do. So, she was going to make use of Christie’s advice. She might be able to get Florence off her back that way too. The thought of coming to work without having enemies put her mind at ease. Having Ava at home to terrorize her was more than enough.
