SIXTY SEVEN – WRONG DECISIONS

I can barely hear myself think over the constant roaring of blood in my ears.

I made the wrong decision. I know it surely as I know Anna doesn't eat eggs. Devon's grip on my hand is firm, giving no room for excuses, or backing out.

We step into the party once again, and I lift my chin at the stares I receive. I ignore the part of me that itches to run back to Mason, wrap my arms around his waist and make him vow never to let me go.

My eyes roam over the buzzing crowd. I find Halloway with a group of expensively attired gentle men. They fawn over her otherworldly good looks while she smiles and flutters her lashes at whatever they seem to be saying.

I feel Devon's grip on my hand tighten, and follow his line of sight to a still laughing Halloway. His bright eyes are instantly overcome by dark, violent shadows.

"You like her, huh?" I ask him.

He looks down at me, instantly smoothing out his expression. The manipulatively playful billionaire is back.

"You like Mason, huh?"
