SIXTY THREE – LOOMING DISASTER

I look down at the dress Sydney and I finally agreed upon this afternoon…or I agreed, rather. I do not know if Mason's party is some kind of princess ball, but Sydney kept suggesting those overly expensive, tissue-like, fluffy dresses. I hated all of them.

The dress on the bed is expensive, too. Exorbitantly so. The money I spent on it will cost me an arm and a leg to replace, but it was the best dress I saw. I bought it without even thinking about the consequences. Sydney threw a fit.

I haven't seen Mason since our little altercation yesterday. He just disappeared. Today, I came out of the bathroom to find a box accompanied with a note.

It read,

"The party is by nine o'clock tonight. Use the jewelry enclosed in this box, and do not be late."

Even the message sounded cold and uncaring. I opened the box and gasped at what I saw. There, lying admidst a nestle of lush pillows was an expensive looking, all diamond choker.

Yes, the entire choker is made of diamonds. Real diamonds. I
