I Can't Keep The Baby

Mrs. Lola Kirk, Chester's mother, left the hospital immediately after she finished talking to Chester on the phone.

"Take me to Chester's office," She instructed and the chauffeur stepped on the accelerator.

In a blink, a red Venza stopped in front of the Royal Group Of Companies. Lola hopped out of the car and adjusted her sunglasses. Everyone who was passing by halted for a few seconds to marvel at her unfading beauty and glowing skin. Some cursed their unfortunate fate for not being rich while some prayed silently to be as wealthy as she was.

She strode into the company and took the private elevator to Chester's office.

She met the secretary as soon as she stepped out of the elevator.

"Welcome, Mrs. Lola Kirk," She humbly greeted with a smile, getting up from her seat.

Lola smiled back at her. "Hey, darling. Thanks for working hard," She said and took elegant walks into Chester's office.

"My handsome son," Lola shouted, widening her arms for an embrace.

"Mom! I thought we talked some minutes ago," Chester surprisingly said, getting up. He walked out of his working spot to his visitor's corner.

"I know right? Give mummy a hug. I am so proud of you," She uttered happily. She kissed his cheeks while hugging him.

   "Did something happen?"

His face revealed confusion and his brows furrowed.

"Yes! I went to the hospital today for my appointment and I met her there,"

   "Who?" He asked.

She ignored his question.

"Guess what! She is carrying your baby. My grandchild. Oh! The heavens are so kind," She looked at the ceiling, touching her chest emotionally.

Chester finally understood what she was saying and who she was referring to. He was perplexed by his mother's drama.

    "Mum! I,"

"Don't say anything, Chester, my dear. Just go to the hospital and meet her. Ask her to keep the baby. Beg her to keep my lovely grandson,"

Chester; (Speechless)

He didn't understand how she got to know the baby's gender. Of course, he knew his mother was a drama queen but he never realized she could be as dramatic as she was at the moment.

"We don't even love each other, mum,"

"You can get to know one another after marriage. Just go and propose to her before she terminates the pregnancy. Let me see my grandson before I die," She sharply retorted, pushing him forward.

"She's Lauren's friend? Don't you think it is absurd?"

"I don't want to hear that bitch's name ever again. I warned you about her but you never listened to me until she showed you how unreasonable she is. Maybe, I should be grateful to her now, for sending Elsa over to you. Elsa is about to give me a grandchild. What she couldn't do for 5 years,"

Chester was aware there was nothing that could stop his mother. It was evident that she loved Elsa and was in support of whatever they were doing because the joy and excitement in her eyes whenever she mentioned her name was inexplicable.

Lauren didn't get a chance. Not even an atom.

"Okay, mum. I will do something about it when I finish the presentation I am working on," He promised sincerely.

His mother wanted to object, however, he clasped his hands together in a pleading manner.

"Okay! Okay!! I await the good news at home tonight,"

After saying this, she carried her bag and left his office. Chester slumped onto the couch as soon as she slammed the door behind her. He shook his head pitiably.

His phone beeped. He hissed loudly when he saw the caller. It was Lauren.

He wanted to ignore the call at first, nevertheless, he decided against it when his mind clicked on something.

"Hey! Lauren," His voice was distant and cold.

"Finally, you picked up. I am so sorry, Chester. I didn't know it would be as offensive as this to you. I thought it was nothing. Please, come back to me. I missed us. I will retrace.....,"

He cut her short. "Don't call me again. I don't want to give my wife a wrong impression that might start troubling her, I don't want her worries to affect our baby,"

Without waiting for her reaction, he hung up.

He thought he should get married to Elsa as his mother had suggested. First, he will be able to keep his baby and second, Lauren will stop stalking him and disturbing him because the girl has been acting insane since he broke up with her.

Instantly, he sprang up and went to the company's underground park. He got into his black Mercedes Benz and zoomed off.

After 30 minutes of driving, he got to the hospital and strode in after parking.

Since he was the biggest shareholder in the hospital, the nurses and doctors recognized him and immediately he got to the ward where Elsa's mother was admitted.

Just as he was about to touch the doorknob, the door was opened by Elsa and they both stared at each other, surprised.

"What are you doing?" Elsa asked, looking at his face.

"Is someone there?" Elsa's mother asked.

"Errr... No, mum," She swiftly stepped out and slammed the door behind her.

Without waiting for Chester to say something, she pulled his arm and dragged him to a corner.

"Why are you here? We both agreed not to cross each other's paths," She mumbled, her voice getting high.

"I couldn't stop myself after hearing little Chester is growing inside of you,"

Elsa touched her stomach and glanced at him, stunned. A glint of astonishment flashed across her eyes. She marveled at how he got to know when she only just found out about it today.

"How did you find out?" She asked. Her scornful look had turned calm.

"Hmmm... I made some calculations," He replied.

Elsa heaved, letting go of his arm.

"Don't worry! The baby has nothing to do with you. I will keep my baby and take care of it myself. Please leave. I won't disturb you as I have promised,"

She turned to leave after saying this but Chester stopped her with his statement, "I will take responsibility for my child,"

She halted in his footsteps and took a while to turn back to face him. She folded her arms and chuckled. "What do you mean?"

"Let's get married," He simply declared.

Elsa wasn't expecting that and she choked on her saliva. "What! Are you crazy?"

Now, she wasn't scared if he was a billionaire or not. This involved the little life in her belly and she didn't mind slapping him for her baby's sake.

"For the baby. Let's get married for a year and you can leave afterward," He radiated an aura of arrogance and that wasn't helping matters. It was making Elsa dislike him more.

She giggled for a few seconds.

"I think Mr. Chester Hussain is missing something. This is my baby. And it has nothing to do with you. Please leave and never come back,"

She dropped her hands and turned. She started walking away. However, Chester ran after her and held her arms.

Elsa tightened her eyes and clenched her lips.

"It is going to be a win-win situation for the both of us. You will get enough money and resources to take care of your mother. We can even fly her to China or India for proper treatment. And you will also be able to live healthy while carrying my child," Chester proudly explained.

Elsa shook her head. She faced him and opened her eyes. In a cold and rude voice, she asked, "Do you have a death wish?"  Her scary eyes made Chester's heart skip out of fear and he quickly released his grip on her arms.

"Make sure you leave before I get back from home," She advised sternly and left the hospital.

Chester's eyes were fixed on the hands he grabbed her with. He sighed heavily and scurried to the doctor's office.

Elsa hopped out of the taxi she took from home, paid the driver, and footed into the hospital, carrying two lunch boxes and her mother's new change of clothes.

When she got to her mother's ward, she found the bed empty and the ward was as clean as if nobody had been there.

It only meant one thing in the hospital, the patient is dead. The thought sent chills of fear down her spine and the stuff she was carrying fell from her hands.

"No! Mum," She shouted and rushed to the reception. "Where is my mum?" She asked the nurses on duty. Her voice was trembling and water welled in her eyes. Mentally, she prayed it wasn't as she thought.

"Oh! Miss. Elsa, we are so sorry. We didn't notice when you walked past. Your mom has been moved to the VVIP ward," One of the nurses explained professionally.

Elsa absentmindedly released a loud huff.

"Where is the ward?" She asked.

"You have to take the private elevator there. It's the only VVIP ward on the floor," She instructed, pointing at the elevator.

Elsa thanked her and went to carry the boxes and bag. Afterward, she took the elevator to the VVIP ward.

A sound gasp left her lips the moment she stepped into the ward.

The VVIP ward doesn't look like a hospital ward. It looked like a majestic room. There was a wide bed unlike the normal ward and at the corner of the ward was a set of chairs. There was a wardrobe and a microwave.

The medical equipment there was no joke and the sight was heavenly.

"Wow!" Elsa let out, taking a step at a time as she scrutinizes the room with her eyes.

"You are here!" Her mother muttered, revealing a bright smile at her. An IV drip was fixed on her hand.

"Hmm... Yeah! Mom, what happened? I only left for 2 hours and everything had changed," She asked, dropping the lunch boxes on the center table in the ward.

She went to open the wardrobe and fixed her mother's clothes inside.

"Yeah! Somebody you know instructed them to move me to this room and do everything possible for me to leave this place in a month,"

Elsa's smile froze at her mother's statement. Her eyelids twitched.

"Someone, I know?" She touched her chest.

"Come, my dear," She gestured with her hands. Elsa heaved and went to sit on the couch beside her mother's bed.

"Why are you rejecting his marriage proposal?" Her mother let out.

Elsa's face revealed confusion and slowly it changed to anger.

   "Oh! Did he come here?"

"My baby! He also confessed you are carrying his baby. Why are you rejecting his proposal when he is ready to take responsibility for the child?"

"Mum! The child is mine. It's not his and it has nothing to do with him,"

"Calm down, Elsa. He has explained everything to me. You are not what he says you are. I know you did everything you did to save me. But, I see him as a good man. He may be blunt with words but I am sure he is the best partner to stay beside you when I am gone. Please, give him a chance," Her mother calmly advised. As she said this, she pierced her gaze into Elsa's and vice versa.

"It's going to be a loveless marriage,"

"You can learn to love him after marriage, my dear," Her mother retorted almost immediately.

Elsa shut her eyes and bit her lower lips to suppress the anger that was surging within her. She sprang up suddenly.

"Where are you going?" Elsa's mother asked.

Elsa forced a smile and responded, "To reset his memory,"

   "What did you say?"

"Ah! I mean, I want to go and have a tete - a - tete with him,"

Thereafter, she left the room.

"I am surely going to kill you, Chester Hussain. How dare you try to make my mother worried?"

Within 45 minutes, she had already taken a cab to his company. She took an elevator to his floor. The secretary tried to stop her as soon as she barged in but she was quick to run into the office.

Chester's head was bent and lowered as he worked on his laptop. He was unaware that Elsa was inside already.

"Miss, you can't just barge into his of....,"

The remaining words stuck in the secretary's throat when she saw Elsa removing her sneakers. Before she could blink her eyes, Elsa hurled one of the pairs of sneakers toward Chester.

Chester heard the commotion and raised his head. However, it was bad timing.

Just as he raised his head, the sneaker hit him on the forehead.

"Ah!" The secretary screamed, covering her mouth with her hands.

Hmmm!!! Why do I feel like Chester is going to kill her?
