If I Don't Have Chester, No One Else Can

"Perfect spot" Elsa muttered, wearing a victorious and fulfilled expression.

"This is the height of it, Miss. Now you have to leave," The secretary let out after jerking out of her shocking state. She grabbed Elsa's arms and was dragging her out of the office.

Chester glanced at the sneakers that he was smacked with. He raised his head and his face had turned vicious.

"Let her be," He instructed, standing up from his seat. The temperature of the office suddenly changed. It became chilly and terrifying. And yeah, the secretary was having a bad premonition. She knew that was her chance of fleeing from the room. She dashed out of the room with alacrity.

"What is your...." Chester's startling voice echoed in his office, yet Elsa was unafraid. She stopped him.

"Shut the crab and I would do the asking," She instructed. Like an order, Chester turned mute. Actually, it wasn't as if he wanted to oblige or he was scared of her. He was just astounded and stunned by her bravery and sternness. She may look fragile, but she was fierce at the moment. If he wasn't a man, he would have been quivering at her feet already.

"Why did you go to my mom? What will you gain from making her worried and getting all worked up? I presumed you rich men are all the same. Dense and foolish! I am sure if you aren't, your dead brain is supposed to tell you informing her about my pregnancy is going to make her worried about me and the child. And you are fully aware that she's seriously ill. She is just getting better. So, my question is still as short and precise as it should be. Why did you visit my mother?" She blabbered nonstop.

Despite her loud talks, his eyes and mind were fixed on her round, red, and kissable lips. For a second, he almost loses control of himself. He wanted to touch her lips. He shrugged the thoughts off his mind.

"It's simple. Since you are acting stubborn, I decided your mother is the only one who could understand me,"

   "What!"

"One of your husband's many dislikes. I hate stubborn girls," He clearly stated. "You are too stubborn, Elsa. What I am trying to say is easy. Marry me,"

"I would rather remain a spinster if you are the only man on earth," she sarcastically blurted.

"Even if it's going to give you and your mother access to my family's resources?" He removed his hands from his pocket, closed the gap between them, and made an attempt to touch her face. Elsa, who had sensed that shifted her face.

"Think about it, Elsa. It's only for a year and during that year, you will have access to my properties and resources. In return, my mother will get to meet her grandchildren as she had always wanted. Remember you are not going to lose anything, in fact, you have a lot to gain than I have. It's a marriage of convenience, with no strings or feelings attached. And after one year, we will go our separate ways and never meet each other,"

"Just like that?" She asked, showing interest in the deal. Her body was getting calmed and her face was becoming soft. Chester sensed that and continued to lure her into accepting the contract.

"If you need money, you will get that in bulk. You can travel to any country of your choice for vacation without worrying about your mother because 5 caretakers will be assigned to take care of her and they will also be at her beck and call. You absolutely have nothing to worry about if you agree to marry me," A sinister smile flashed across his eyes, sensing that Elsa's response would be positive.

"Hmm... How can I marry you when you have a girlfriend? Everyone knows you and Lauren are a couple and have been together for five years. So, I will only look like the wrecker," Elsa made an excuse.

"Lauren? We've dissolved everything between us since a month ago. I found out she was the one who arranged you for me. It's only ideal if I leave a girl like her,"

"Hmmm... But," Elsa tried to talk again, however, Chester crossed one of his fingers on her lips.

"Shhh! You should stop the excuses now. The contract will be sent to you before the day runs out," He calmly said.

Elsa was speechless. She stared at the finger he placed on her lips.

Elsa nodded, she fit her feet into her sneakers and was heading out. Nonetheless, as soon as she opened the door, Lauren's face came into view.

She stood transfixed and frozen. Lauren rolled her eyes and shoved her aside. She took graceful steps into the office.

"It's just as you've told me," Lauren blurted, walking toward Chester.

"What are you doing here, Lauren?" Chester asked in a calm manner.

"I came to confirm what you told me over the phone. I don't know. I just can't believe you. But seeing her here, she must indeed be pregnant,"

When she mentioned being pregnant, she threw Elsa hateful glares.

Elsa was overwhelmed with guilt. No matter how it is defined, she never thought Lauren was the bad one. She thought she was the one at fault. She blamed herself for everything.

"You have to leave now," Chester commanded, trying to grasp her hands so that he could drag her out, nevertheless, Lauren moved backward before he could do that.

"Don't you dare touch me, Chester. I can't believe you chose this wretched and ugly pauper over me," She chuckled and placed her gaze on Elsa, "You must be enjoying your newfound luxurious life, you desperate betrayal," She hatefully said.

"Stop that, Lauren. I won't stand and watch you insult her," He angrily warned.

Lauren peeked at him and pulled him into a tight hug, unannounced. "I miss you, Chester. I am sorry, babe. Please give me one last chance. I won't do it again. I won't ever try it. Don't let a slut like her come between us," She pleaded.

Chester tried to release himself from her hug but she kept pulling him closer. She wasn't letting him go.

"You have to get yourself together, Lauren. Leave my office now,"

"How is she better than I am? I have a nice body but she doesn't. Why do you choose to marry a poor girl into your family?"

"If you don't leave now, I am going to report you for public harassment,"

Lauren left his body and glared at Elsa. Her eyes spoke venom and spite.

"It's all because of you, two-faced friend," She rushed toward Elsa. Nonetheless, before she got to her, Chester's mother, Lola Kirk scurried in and stood in front of Elsa, blocking her from Lauren.

"Don't you dare, Lauren. If you value your career so much, then you will leave here as I speak," Lola threatened with a cold tone.

Lauren's face fell when she saw Chester's mother.

"I...," She tried to speak but she was shunned.

"Don't say anything. Just leave here now, my son is done sponsoring your fake expensive lifestyle. Gold digger,"

Embarrassed and deflated, She forced out a smile and looked at everyone's faces one after the other.

"Be careful of the little life in your belly. You know, there are so many cases of miscarriages and accidents,"  An ambiguous smirk flashed across her eyes.

Though her words were unclear to Elsa, she could still feel the dangerous meaning behind them.

"See you soon, everyone," She waved her purse in the air while walking to the door. Afterward, she halted after opening the door.

"If I don't have you, then nobody would, Chester. Even if it means wiping them out,"

As soon as she said this, she slammed the door behind her.
