KNIGHT MANSION

Aurora Knight welcomed the couple half-heartedly. She had no joy on her face seeing Kayden and Eleanor return in fact she had loads of doubts why they were so distanced from each other.

When the Knight car parked at the portico, Kayden had got down first and whilst he waited for Eleanor to get down too, so that they could walk together, she chose not even to look at him and hurried inside.

It was only after a few seconds and strides that he matched her speed and reached the entrance door at the same time. He stole her glances at regular intervals but Eleanor didn’t even care to check him once. Aurora had watched all of this very carefully and realised something was fishy.

Aurora's interruption sliced through the conversation like a sharp blade. "You look pale," she observed, concern etched across her features. "Were you unwell?"

Eleanor hesitated, her mind scrambling for an excuse to deflect Aurora's inquiry. She couldn't bear the thought of disclosing her recent pan
