POV Stella

Where am I?

Why is it so bright?

How did I get here?

Shit where is Jack!

Stella could hear beeping, it was annoying until she realised it sounded like a heart monitor. Stella opened her eyes further seeing that she was in a hospital bed.

A nurse walked in, smiling seeing she was awake the Nurse said “Hi my name is Helen, you are in the hospital, you were in a bad accident”. Stella couldn’t speak she still didn’t understand what was happening.

Helen said, “Can you tell me your name?” Stella nodded her head saying “Um, Yea- yes it’s Stella, Stella Bright, I mean Stella Philipston”.Stella still forgot that she had changed her name to her husband’s last name.

JACK!

Stella felt her eyes start to water where she realised Jack wasn’t in the room with her, was he hurt? Where was he?Stella rushed her questions “Where is my husband? Is he okay? Has he been here? Do you know where he is?”Helen didn’t reply.Stella continued to stare at Helen waiting for her to respond trying not to think the worst.

NO NO!

This cant be happening.

Helen finally spoke “I will let the Doctor know you are awake and answer your questions”. Stella closed her eyes are tears began to fall.

What happened, what was the last thing I remember?

Stella laid there for what feels like hours trying to remember what happened, the Doctor walked in her room and cleared her throat. Stella opened her eyes but did not look at the doctor, “Hi Mrs Philipston, I’m Doctor Wilks”. Doctor Wilks waited for Stella to look at her, but Stella continued to look at the ceiling. Doctor Wilks continued “Mrs Philipston? Stella?” Stella finally looked at the doctor. Doctor Wilks smiled warmly and continued “Stella, I’m so glad to see you’re awake, you have been asleep for some time”. Doctor Wilks paused and when Stella didn’t respond she continued “Stella you were in a car accident, you sustained injuries to your head, and back as you went through the windscreen and landed some way from the car. It also seems that you were attacked by an animal while you were laying in the bushes”. Stella looked at the Doctor confused.

Doctor Wilks saw this and realised saying “On your neck there is a bite mark that looks to me a cougar or some sort of large animal, they were most likely attracted to the smell of blood. It most like got spooked by the ambulances and ran off.” Stella continued to stare at the Doctor waiting for the bad news she somehow knew was coming. Doctor Wilks paused taking a big breath “Your husband was driving the car when another car veered into your lane and hit your car on the driver’s side. The driver was drunk. Your husband”. Doctor Wilks paused again looking at straight at Stella and continued “We can’t confirm if it was instant or if it was afterwards”.

Stella continued to stare at the doctor willing her to just hurry up. Tears began to fall. “Your Husband was pronounced dead at the scene”. Stella closed her eyes as her sobs began to rock her body.
