Chapter 7

POV James

Jesus, we do look alike.

I can’t tell her that.

I can’t tell my mate that her dead husband looks just like me.

That she probably fell in love with him because he looked like her fated mate.

No that’s jumping to conclusions, right?

Right?

Maybe he is a distant relative?

I am over 200 years old you never know he could be one of my descendants or my brothers who died when I was in my early 100s.

Nep would know, she always knew this kind of things.

Now the hard part, get Stella back to the pack house before she transforms.

Clearing his throat James brought Stella out of her thoughts “So, that was a lot. How are you feeling?” Stella paused thinking before rushing her questions out all at once “Fine. Why is that? Have you hypnotised me? Drugged me? Why do I feel calm and trust what you’re telling me?” James could see it in her eyes that she trusted him, but she also was fighting the logic of the situation, James opened the mind think to see if she was projecting and he was right “This is ridiculous, okay so what if I just say I trust him and then he leaves. Right, he would leave me alone? No he won’t I bet, Fuck Fuck Fuck I have no Idea what to do right now! He can probably hear what Im saying now to! Okay, Okay? I don’t want to trust him but I can feel that he isn’t lying to me, do I just trust him?” James broke the link as he felt like he was intruding, trying not to make it obvious he just heard all of that, so he stayed quiet allowing Stella to process.

James palmed the back of his neck eventually resting on telling her the truth again. He keeps finding himself telling her the honest truth when he knows if might scare her, but his wolf keeps pushing to tell her the truth, well most of it. “Because your wolf knows me, you wont meet her until after you shift but she knows I’m telling you the truth. She trusts me through her instincts she knows I’m not a threat”. Again Stella stares blankly but her mind link snaped into place “MY FUCKING WHAT!” James almost jumped out of his seat, they are both silent for a moment before Stella finally says calmly outloud “my wolf? Huh I don’t have a pet?” James chuckled forgetting that she was human and had no clue. “When you transform for the first time you will meet your wolf” James confirmed.

James waited and Stella eventually knodded saying slowly “I don’t know why I’m trusting you and think you’re telling me the truth because my rational self is saying this is a crock of shit and you’re a lunatic spewing shit left and right, but there is another part of me that feels like this is the logical truth”. Stella was shaking her head in disbelief and then clamped her hands over her eyes and laid back on the couch.

James watched her waiting for it to sink in, he caught himself looking at her properly for the first time.

Looking at her smaller frame but realising she was actually more muscular than he originally thought and she wasn’t that short, she actually looked to be about 5’7 if not a bit taller. She had tattoos on her arms and her legs he had not noticed, they were patterns and some saying words he couldn’t read from this angle. Her hair was a deep shade of red, it almost looked brown but to his enhanced eyes he could see the red, it was thick and wavy, not curly but wavy like she lived at the beach. James was enthralled with drinking in his mate’s appearance when she suddenly sat up again looking at him. “So what now. If I am turning into a wolf, werewolf”, Stella gestured to herself with waving her arms, “what now?” James was taken aback with her matter-of-fact tone and seriousness of her facial expression while she used large hand gestures.

James stumbled on his words caught off guard not use to being spoken to like that. “Um we- you can- the best way is, is you come back with me to the pack house where there are no humans that you can hurt when you turn.” James cursed himself for sounding so pathetic as he raced through his explanation hoping that she would agree and go with him.

What the hell! Why am I speaking like a blabbering teenager! Jesus get yourself together man!

Her eyes are so bright.

My eyes are a bright green but hers there is this slight yellow tint through them that make them look almost glowing and a darker rim around them.

Speak, she is looking at you!

Speak!

James cleared his throat again trying to look away from her eyes “does that sound okay to you?” Again, James cringed at how he was speaking, Stella sat thinking for a moment before she asked very matter of fact “This isn’t some sick way of trying to get me back to your house to kill me or something is it?” James was shocked but answered quickly “no I’m not going to kill you I want to help you and for you to join my pack”. Stella looked to relax then asked “Your pack? What are you the boss or something?” James was shocked again at the question but mostly at the fact she had a faint smile on her lips, it was the first time he has seen it, it took his breath away. He had to take a moment to catch his breath but answered “Well yeah, it’s mine well it will be, it’s like my family but I am in line to become alpha after my father retires”. Stella nodded and suddenly stood up “When do we leave?”
