“That’s interesting.” I rose to my feet and she followed suit. You could see the uncertainty in her eyes in the way she stared at me, she was nervous.

I rolled my eyes, her heartbeat was picking up the more silence we stood in, it was quite embarrassing to watch.

“You are the acting principal of this mysterious yet prestigious school, have some balls and act like it. If I was going to do any underground work here, it would override you, trust me.”

Embarrassment beamed bright red on her face that I couldn't take seriously. Reading people easily made me regard them less. To date no one understood that was my power, the only ability I had harnessed out of the black out rage and the incredible strength that surpasses my time and age.

I could use the heartbeat pattern to read someone's thoughts, whether it was directly or indirectly.
