Chapter 5: Day Off

As soon as I entered my apartment, I was greeted by my black cat, Luna. I immediately picked her up and gave her a big kiss. I sat down for a while and rested. I took a hot bath and changed my clothes. Finally, home where I can relax and be myself.

"Having a relaxing time isn't that bad right Luna?" 

Luna just looked at me with her big round eyes and her fluffy face. I gave her a bowl of cat foo which she certainly enjoys. Of course, I prepared a meal for myself, meaning I ordered a box of pizza through the phone. I waited for my dinner while I do some light chores around the house. As I'm about to relax on the couch, the phone rang.

*phone rings voice message began*

"Hi, Jane! hope you doing okay! Just checking on yeah see you after your leave!"

*end of voice message*

"Oh, it's Nick good to hear from him after being together for like 30 minutes ago. "

)

I chuckled and decide to send him a voice message as well.

"Hi, Nick! I'm doing good thank you for checking in! I just ordered some pizza for dinner. Hope to see you soon!"

*voice message sent*

*doorbell rings*

I went to the door to grab my pizza and sat down to watch for a while. After I ate, I put the leftover pizza into the fridge, brushed my teeth, and went to bed. 

~the next day~

The sunshine enters my window and woke me up with a gentle kiss on my cheeks, followed by the constant meowing of my hungry feline companion.

"Ah yes, the best annoying alarm clock"

I stood up out of bed and start stretching. As I went to the kitchen, Luna followed me and demanded breakfast. I filled her bowl up with cat food and get myself a freshly brewed cup of coffee. There's nothing better than the smell of a cup of Joe in the morning. 

*phone rings*

I look over to find my phone and it was Nick calling. Of course, I answered it.

"Hi, Nick! What's the catch? It's like 8:00 in the morning"

"Nothing just checking on you, it's kinda lonely working here without you tho. Anyways I will go back to work now. Bye"

I hang up the phone and finish my cup of coffee and went into my day. Spending the day home alone isn't the best day I'd ever had. No stupid papers, no computer screen, no killer to investigate.

I got bored inside so I decided to go outside to get lunch. I call a cab and went to my local restaurant. While ordering, Nick suddenly went into my mind. So I ordered lunch for him as well. I went to the Police Department to see Nick. I went inside the office and there he was concentrated on his job. I knocked on the open door to surprise him. He lifts his head and looks in my direction. He smiled at me, his sparkling eyes widened as soon as he laid eyes on me. 

"What's up partner! Brought you some food for lunch"

I gave him the food I ordered from the local restaurant and smiled back at him. The feeling of joy fulfill my senses as he takes the food. This feeling of euphoria is addictive.

"I just stopped by to give you the food I'd be going now".

" thank you for visiting me here. It's quiet in here when you're not around."

I waved him goodbye as I walked out of the building and went home. As I walk through the crowded streets I saw a familiar face. It's Maria, she's probably going to work at Ross' I waved at her but she just glared at me and walked away. That girl needs to socialize more.  I called a cab and went home. While inside the cab I wonder what could Maria know about the murders around town. I got so lost in the thought that I did not realize I already arrived at my destination. I tried to shrug the thought off my head.

"Come on Jane it's your rest day, no need to think about work today".

I mumbled to myself as I leave the vehicle and went inside my apartment.

As soon I went in, I get comfy, ready my food, and binge watches true crimes on Netflix. As time went by I didn't realize that it was already 6:00 In the evening.

I got up and clean all of the dishes I used and stretched for a bit. My back hurts because of sitting for too long and for slouching like a couch potato. Then it came to me, I remember the case I'm working at and I just need to work instantly.

*flashback*

"We got little time miss Watson, people are dying out there. We need more evidence as soon as possible. We got no time for lollygagging understand me?!"

*end of flashback*

I busted out my laptop and start working. I turned on the television on Live News and started waiting for clues. For some reason, I just can't drop off my job. Another gruesome case has been discovered. The killer was moving fast and the police didn't have the chance to catch up. Questions started to flood my head again as I try to comprehend what's happening.

And there it was, Another victim. As soon as I started gathering up the new case. A knock on the door came echoing.
