Consciousness was not a pleasant experience right then, Linus decided.

He groaned at the thumping headache then coughed as his dry throat protested. The convulsing of his muscles with the cough sent searing pain up his side and he gasped, eyes flying open.

A large hand forced him still as a cool metal cup was held to his lips and he drank down the water greedily, splashing much of it down his chin heedlessly.

“Welcome back, Boss,” a deep voice greeted him, and he looked up to find a familiar alpha face looking down at him.

“Dyllen,” he rasped out.

Trace appeared in his vision a moment later with more water and he drank until he couldn’t drink anymore.
