Confronting the unknown

Who are you?

Confronting the unknown.

Lisa's POV

The man in front of me was attractive, with a strong jawline, intense eyes, and an air of confidence. His hair was well-kept, and his lips were full and inviting. He had an unknown aura that intrigued me, unlike my boyfriend David. The unknown aura kept enticing me to embrace him. But his rude behavior was intolerable.

"Are you stupid or what? Can't you hear me?" he growled at me again, pulling me out of my thoughts. "You disgust me, woman. How dare you look at me with that lustful eye?"

I shrank back, trying to ignore the anger in his voice. "Are you deaf?" he asked. Even if he was attractive, I would not tolerate his bad behavior.

"Who are you? Do you think of yourself as a god or what? How dare you curse this queen?" I scowled. "Are you sick?"

"What?! How dare you!" he screeched.

"What?" I spat angrily. "Are you okay?"

Before I knew what was happening, he attacked me. "What?" I gasped for air as he grabbed my neck and began squeezing the life out of me.

"How dare you show me this kind of nasty attitude? Do you know who I am?" he roared.

"I don't want to know who you are," I said as he tightly held my neck. He was going to kill me. How did I come across this sick person? What should I do?

"My king," I heard someone call him. "Please don't do this." He fixed his gaze on me. This man in front of me is deadly and dangerous. He flung me to the ground. I coughed while holding my neck. What the hell just happened to me? Did I just escape death?

"You should consider yourself lucky, girl. I'll pardon you today, but the next time you come across me and mess with me, it will be your last day on earth," he warned. "Do you understand? Now scram!"

He glared at me before walking past me. He's an imminent danger, but I wasn't going to give up. I wasn't weak, and I'd never lower my head in front of anyone.

I got up and grabbed him before he could respond. I smacked him in the face. His face was bloodied, and his eyes were wide with surprise. He glanced at me. His eyes were filled with rage and venom.

"You!" He seemed shocked. "How dare you do this to me?"

I was scared, but I wouldn't back down. He raised his hand to hit me, but I was shocked when I said something impossible.

"Mate," I howled.

"What?" he cried out. His hand was still hanging in the air. "What do you say? Tell me, who the hell is your mate?" I was shocked. What did I just say? Mate? What is that?

"Tell me, young lady, who is your mate?" He spat, looking at me with hatred. He grabbed my hand tightly, demanding an answer from me.

"I don't know," I muttered. I was as confused as him.

"You don't know, right?" He snickered. "Is that why you are flirting with me?" I felt my cheeks flush, and I quickly looked away.

"No, that's not why," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

"You know who I am from the beginning," he said. I was confused. I didn't know who he was or what he was talking about. "You know you are my mate. You wanted to seduce me by pretending to fall. What a foolish move."

"I don't." Why am I behaving like this? I hated that I was getting weak in front of this rude and arrogant man.

"I hate people who tell lies," he grumbled, grabbing my face. "You lowly woman."

I pushed his hand away before glancing at him. "Don't you say that again, bastard. An arrogant being like you deserves to be put behind bars."

"Hahahaha," he laughed. "Jail? You mean you want to imprison this king?"

I should leave. I don't know what this hateful guy might do to me if I stay too long. I don't know who he is; he might be a powerful person that the police wouldn't be able to handle. They might turn against me if I try to arrest him.

He is cruel. I should stay far away from him. I turned to take my leave, but he grabbed me, stopping me in my tracks.

"Where do you think you're going?" he demanded.

"Let go of me," I warned.

"I should let go of you after the insult," he mumbled.

"I don't remember insulting you," I responded. "Let me go at once or else."

"Or else what, mate? You're gonna kiss me, right?"

"Let me go." All I wanted to do was stay away from this man.

"I won't. Not after the insult from you. You hit my precious face, and you think I am going to let you go after all that?"

"My king. It's getting late. We need to leave." The voice spoke again. I looked in the direction where the voice came from. He was a nice-looking guy, and he had a gentle aura around him, unlike this monster in front of me.

"What?" He smirked. "Do you like what you see?" the psycho man asked. "Are you trying to hit on him as well?" He pointed to the man who was watching him display his absurdity. "My beta."

"My king." The man spoke out.

"Do you like what you see as well?" The arrogant man asked again. "I mean her?" He turned and questioned the guy.

"No sir. I don't dare."

"Hehehe," he smirked. Really? I'm thinking of gifting her to you. What do you think, Beta?"

"What?" I opened my eyes in shock. I had never been insulted like this in my life. Thinking of gifting me to someone as if I were some toy.

"Are you crazy?" I screeched. I was furious. My blood boiled. I gathered all my strength and hit him hard on his chest. "Do you think I am a toy? I have had enough of your insults, you arrogant bastard."

I moved to where he was before landing another blow. "Do not look down on me." I grabbed his face.

I looked straight into his eyes. "I won't tolerate you. Next time you mess with me, I will show you the stuff I am made of." I straightened up, brushed my hair, and walked out on him.

"How dare you treat me like this?" I could hear him yelling and screaming. What a bad day. Why did I come here in the first place?

"Lisa, where have you been?" Janet inquired. "I have been looking for you."

"I'm here now." I smiled gently, trying to disguise what had happened.

"We need to get going," she uttered. "Your mother will be worried about us."

"Sure. I'm coming. I will be right back."

"Where are you going?" Janet inquired.

"I need to calm down. I need to get some drinks." I was still angry, but I wouldn't let that get to me.

I ordered the strongest drink. I drank it all at once before hitting the dance floor. I started dancing, leaving my worries behind. I looked back. I could feel a hot gaze on my body. I needed to leave this hell.

"Janet," I called her. "We need to leave."

After making sure we were not followed, I asked her to drive.

"See you tomorrow, Jane. Drive safely." After bidding each other goodbye, Janet drove off. I looked around.

I could still feel the burning gaze that I had felt in the club. It was impossible. I had made sure no one was following us. I guess I had drunk too much and started imagining things. I opened the door and walked in.

"You're back, child."

"Yes, mother." I knew she would be waiting for me.

"Mother," I held her. "You need to rest. You should go get some rest." I led her to her room before putting her to bed. I kissed her on her forehead before leaving.

"Sweet dreams, mother."

I walked back into my room after putting her to bed. I kept wondering who that man was, but he never left my mind. I lay down in bed and felt my heart pound. I closed my eyes, trying to get some sleep, but my mind was racing. Who was that man, and why was I so afraid?

I wished someone could tell me what was happening around me. Everything seemed strange. I felt uneasy. I couldn't sleep. I glanced through the window and saw the woods. Without hesitating, I walked out and headed into the woods. This was where I usually found my peace. I walked deeper and deeper.

"Who is there?" I felt someone's gaze on my skin. Someone was here.

The moonlit night cast eerie shadows as I sprinted through the dense woods. My breath came in ragged gasps, and my heart raced with fear. I had no idea who or what was pursuing me, but the feeling of being watched lingered, sending shivers down my spine.

this chapter is amazing. I love how she didn't act like a weekling in front of him.
