Chapter 42 Hopeful Eyes

"Are you all right, sweetheart?" Alex inquired, Kendall breaking the embrace to glance at her uncle, who had slightly watery eyes and was standing next to her, caressing her hair,

as if telling her that everything is already in place, which it most certainly is since her father is here for her.

She smiled and motioned for her uncle to pick her up from my embrace so she could hug him; it was only then that I noticed her condition:

she was pale and thin, and bruised near her forehead with frizzy tangled hairs trying to hide it; even her dress, which I had given her a few days before the accident,

was slightly torn and looked like dirty mops in Asian houses.

Even the thought of certain things made my blood boil, so I gritted my teeth and fist my palm.

"Alex, get Kendall out of here," I said as softly as I could, he nodded and smiled at Kendall, "Let's go, Kenny," he said swinging her a little, but she looked sadly towards me, "dad," she said with hopeful eyes,
