Chapter 02. The Unexpected Destiny

“How dare you bump into Mr. Mike with your shabby clothes!” Jennifer snapped. She was surprised to see Lara’s presence. Her hands clenched with emotion.

“I’m sorry, sir.” Lara looked down even deeper. Her hands squeezed anxiously.

“Raise your head.” Mike asked in a firm voice, but in a low tone.

“Let me take care of it.” Jennifer stepped forward. She stood in the middle between Mike and Lara.

“With all due respect, I apologize for my servant’s inappropriate behavior. I will teach her a lesson for what she has done wrong today.” Jennifer gave Lara an exasperated look.

Mike didn’t care about the words coming out of Jennifer’s mouth. He knew this woman was like a venomous snake.

“Are you okay?” Mike asked, passing by Jennifer, who was stunned to see him.

Mike looked at Lara. His gaze traced every inch of Lara’s bruised body. Her brown hair was disheveled. She was breathing heavily, as if she had just run away from someone.

“This woman is just a rogue, sir. She works as a maid here. And she often makes trouble. I don’t know what trouble she made this time.” Jeniffer lied. She didn’t want to recognize Lara as her sister.

For some reason, Mike’s chest tightened. His haughty and arrogant image suddenly vanished.

“There’s no need to be afraid.” Mike said in a gentle tone.

‘Damn! Why is she here?!’ Jennifer thought. She looked around, hoping her father’s men would show up and take Lara away.

“Tell me what happened to you?” Mike said.

Lara didn’t answer any of Mike’s questions. Fear made her body tremble.

“Take her away!” Jennifer ordered as two of her father’s men arrived.

Fear made her immediately raise her face. She looked up at the man standing in front of her. A strange feeling suddenly filled her heart. But she didn’t understand why she was suddenly like this. It felt like she felt safe when she was with that man.

“Why are you standing there like that?” Jennifer snapped in annoyance.

“Don’t touch her!” Mike growled as he pulled Lara into his reach.

“If you dare touch her, I’ll make your hands useless!” It didn’t take long for Mike to realize who this woman was. She was the woman he had been looking for. His mate.

They immediately fell silent. Jeniffer was shocked. She couldn’t believe what Mike had just said. He was very indifferent to her sister.

“Sorry, sir. We’re just following orders from our leader.” One of them came forward and explained the situation.

Lara looked at Mike with a frightened look. Her limp hand touched the hem of Mike’s suit.

“Help me, sir.” Lara said with tears starting to fall.

Mike nodded. He wouldn’t let Lara go. He had good reason to have her.

“I apologize, sir. But this is Mr. Pascal’s pack’s problem. We’re just following our leader’s orders.”

“Then I’ll take her. That way, she has no more business with you guys.” Mike immediately decided without much thought.

“It doesn’t work that way, sir.” Jennifer interrupted. She gave Lara a jealous look. “You can’t do that. Don’t you understand the rules?”

“What’s going on?” Pascal glanced at his daughter, who looked troubled. His face immediately became emotional at Lara’s presence. He glanced at his men with a murderous look.

“Please explain to Mr. Mike who the woman he’s defending is, dad!” Jennifer couldn’t hide her annoyance. She stood next to her father. Looking for justification as usual.

“You can’t take her, sir.” Pascal spoke in a calm tone, but it was clear he was refusing Mike’s request.

“Unfortunately, you have to give her to me.” Mike replied in a dangerous tone. “That woman is my mate.”

Everyone was stunned. Jennifer couldn’t even say anything.

“Are you sure?” Pascal looked doubtful.

“Do you think I would lie about something this serious?”

Jennifer did not want to listen to anything that would hurt her. She walked out of the room.

“Where’s that bitch?” She asked the maid she met.

“She’s in her room, miss.” The maid replied with her head bowed.

After that, Jennifer walked quickly to Lara’s room.

Jennifer broke down the door. She looked around and found Lara sitting in the corner of the room.

“I’m sorry, sis.” Lara stood up. Her eyes were puffy from crying.

“Fucking bitch!” Jennifer walked up to Lara and grabbed her hair. She pulled so hard that her sister’s head jerked up.

“How dare you come out and ruin everything!” Jennifer yelled loudly. “You thought that guy would protect you, huh?”

"He won't help you! Even in your dreams, he won't do anything!"

“I’m sorry, sis. I won’t do it again. So please, let go. It hurts.” Lara pleaded. But her older sister was more than happy to see her in pain.

Jennifer dragged her sister out of the room. Ignoring her sister’s pleas for pain.

“You think I’d just leave you alone, huh?” Jennifer grinned slyly. “Don’t even think about it! I’ll give you more pain than this!”

Jennifer led Lara to an unfamiliar room. Inside were several men who were members of her father’s pack. She threw Lara’s body and instantly her sister became the center of attention of the men.

“You are free to do anything to her!” Jennifer yelled at everyone. They immediately stared at Lara like a wild animal staring at its prey.

“Don’t do this, sis!” Lara said in a frightened tone. She grabbed Jennifer’s leg. “Please. Aren’t we sisters?”

Jennifer chuckled. She pulled Lara’s chin. “Since when do I think of you as my sister?”

Lara was silent. Tears fell down her cheeks.

Jennifer pushed against Lara’s body. She walked away. And stood next to the door.

“Don’t touch me!” Lara yelled. She pulled her body away, but the man’s strength was greater than hers.

“Let go of me!”

Jennifer smiled widely, amused at her sister’s suffering.

“Help me, sis!”
