The step sister

I got ready for dinner.

Though I never wanted to return home, I had to dress my best, to show my stepmother that I'm not the little girl who left the house close to two years ago.

I wore one of the gowns Miguel got for me.

It's an off-shoulder strapless short-sleeved backless body-con red gown which I paired off with the nude heels I got, but never thought I will have a reason to put them on.

“Jewel?”

Miguel knocked on my door as I was dabbing my face with the powder Star gifted me.

I didn't bother tying my hair. I left it to cascade down my back.

“I'm almost through!”

I took the red purse which I kept on the bed and stuffed my phone in it before I raced to the door.

It was a feat running in such high heels.

I opened the door and faced my husband, who looked like he was moments from breaking the door, to get to me.

“I apologize for the time waste. I had to be presentable enough.”

I glanced up at my husband.

Dressed in a golden suit, he reminded me so much of Day.
