Alexander's POV

I watched the footage clearly, the recordings Frederick had brought. It’s been over eight hours now. Maybe this was my way of comforting myself after everything that happened the previous morning.

I wondered what must be going on in her head. If she was doing okay or just pretending to. But who was I to care about that? It's true what everyone says—I’m just as bad as Sabrina Parks.

I paused the footage as Frederick walked in. “How’s she?” I had sent Frederick to keep an eye on Fiona.

“She went out of town today.”

“To?”

“My men haven’t reported back yet. About what you heard your father and Mr. Parks discussing the other day,” he moved closer, “your father is involved in illegal mining.”

I stared in shock. “What!”

He handed over a newspaper. “A few years ago, a family was burnt alive. The publishing company that reported it went bankrupt immediately. There’s no other copy.”
