Fiona's POV

The clock struck twelve. I took a deep breath, adjusting the mask over my face. A knock on the window made me shiver as I pushed it open and peered through.

"You look like a desperate cat," a voice said from behind.

I spun around, ready to attack but stopped. "Davis? What are you doing here? No, how did you get in?"

"Shush!" He pressed his hand over my mouth, pushing me against the wall. "I told you not to do anything. You almost cost me my life," he whispered.

I pushed him away, removing the mask. "Don't blame me for your misfortunes. You should have been more careful."

His expression grew serious. "Do you really think I did that?"

"If you didn't, then who did?" I pressed further.

"I don't know. Look, I think someone else is after Alexander."

"That's absurd. Who else would want to hurt him?" I walked to the stool, picking up my phone. "It's past midnight. I need to go."

He grabbed my hand. "Where?"

"Sabrina's house," I whispered. "Please don't try to stop me."
