Hazel’s POV

I had racked my brain for days trying to think of who would have hated me so much to threaten my children. An answer came to me one evening when I was brushing Kyla’s hair. I had totally forgotten my encounter with Roxie. I was not sure if she was going to act on her threat. I could not quit my work for her when I had just started to enjoy the benefits of working a decent job. All I had to do was ignore and stay clear off Drake’s path. I was not going to let Roxie actualize her plans and harm my children.

I managed to avoid Drake for almost a week. I would go to work early, finish any work that needed his signature and take them to his office when he was still away. Once, I came to work and found him in the office. I had to bribe the only person I was friendly with to take the documents to him. It was like a cat and mouse game. Whenever I saw him coming, I would rush to the washroom or kitchen to get water. I barely responded to his greetings.
