Longing For Father

Cheslea saw her boss inside the private pantry and walked inside. Then, she patted her shoulder to get her attention.

Jaymianne glanced at her and said, "Ches… what are you doing here?"

"I'm worried about you, Jayme. You are stressed from the meeting."

"How wouldn't I if she kept testing me? She was a pain in my ass and even tested my temper."

"That's why you should go home and have some rest. I'll take care of everything, okay?"

Her secretary forced her to leave the premises but for her, it was wasting time to rest just because of one meeting.

She was the CEO of the MSCI so she needed to face every mistake. Also, she could rest whenever she wanted. But then, she was intoxicated from stress and tiresome.

"If you don't want to leave the office right away, you can stay for a while in the office. I'll bring something for you." She mumbled.

They walked back inside the office and crouched on the couch. She kept thinking that ever since her parents died, she fought the battle alone.

She didn't have siblings to ask for help to build the company. Her father died when she was in middle school and her mother followed recently. It devastated her to think that she was alone.

Ever since her son arrived in her life, everything changed. It became her light and admiration to live happily. It never crossed her mind to resent the product of his actions towards her.

It became the most beautiful gift that was given to her. Her son's life.

"Do you think I deserve this life?" Jaymianne asked her secretary whilst placing another tea.

Cheslea crouched beside her and held her hands. She smiled, reassuring that her boss deserved everything accomplished in her life.

"What makes you think that?"

"I don't have siblings and my parents died leaving the bankrupt company to me. My life has become a mess ever since I met that man."

"You deserve everything, Jayme. The money that passed to you and the company you restored. We don't have much staff but we still operate because of the clients who trusted you so don't think that you aren't worthy of your achievements."

Jaymianne heaved a deep sigh and leaned her head on Cheslea's shoulder while wrapping the CEO's arms around hers.

"Thank you for everything, Ches. You are always by my side and not leaving me behind."

"You saved my life, Jayme."

She ruffled her boss's hair as she glared at her and fixed her hair. She chuckled at her boss' cute reaction. For Cheslea, she was the most childish person she ever met.

Hence, she leaned away from Cheslea's shoulder and fixed her hair and her dress. She reached for her tea and took a sip.

She was stunned when someone barged inside the office with a loud scream. Her tea was almost spilled on her dress but luckily she avoided it.

She placed her cup and glanced at the door. Her lips formed into a smile when her son ran towards her direction while holding her best friend's hand.

She glanced away when George glared at her. She noticed his exhaustion from taking care of an energetic kid.

"I feel sorry for Georgy." Cheslea said whilst watching them.

"Well he wanted to take care of him so it's fine." She mumbled.

George walked towards them and threw himself at the couch.

"I'm tired when I'm with James! I feel like I'm 40 years of age!" George whined.

"You know James is full of energy so it really makes you old." Cheslea uttered.

"I'm not old! You idiota!"

"What did you call me?!"

Jaymianne just sighed and chuckled from her friends. It was normal that her friend whined about her son's stamina but she just ignored them.

Instead, she stood and hugged her son as he hopped around her mother's body. She chuckled at her son, who was very sweet at her even though he was 7 years of age.

"MAMA!"

"How's school?" She asked her son.

James glanced at her with a smile widely on his face and went down from her embrace.

He sprinted to the sofa and began to open his bag. Then, he took out a paper from his bag as her mother crouched beside her.

"What is it, sweetie?"

He giggled and gave the paper to his mother. And as she glanced at it, her heart sank when seeing his son's drawing.

It was a family drawing and it hurted her when his son seeks attention from his father but what should she do?

His father was nowhere to be found and she didn't want to see him, did she?

"It's lovely, sweetie."

"It is Mama! But…" Her son stopped his words and just pouted.

Jaymianne gazed at them, who were just smiling at them but that smile had sympathy towards his son's feelings.

She just sighed and grabbed James' wrist and placed him on her lap. Then, she smiled at him while caressing his cheeks with her thumb.

"Why are you sad, sweetie?"

He pulled her mother into an embrace and whispered, "I wish I had my Papa like my classmates. They were making fun of me when Uncle George picked me up."

She bit her lips, striving to halt her tears to fall through her cheeks. It really hurt her when his son was making fun of him just because he didn't have his father with him.

She caressed his back to ease him, however it wasn't enough to calm him down.

Thus, she loosened the embrace and gazed at his son, who was sulking. "It's okay, sweetie. You have me, Uncle George and Aunt Cheslea." She explained.

"But Mama. It's different… Uncle George was only my uncle… You should find my new Papa!"
