Urgent Meeting (II)

'I'm screwed!' as she yelled in her mind, knowing Mrs. Riley expected a good result from the company.

However, one of the team, Drake Elric, didn't report or given a heads up about the materials needed for the Martin's Enterprises. And Drake was appointed for the supplies and given the budget ahead of time.

Also, it was his job to canvas for the best quality for the construction. And one mistake would be a huge impact to the company.

The CEO had been trusted them yet again, it's been two days since the budget given to him and nothing came back for the report.

And now, it was a complete disaster…

"Miss Mar, I feel the tension inside your breath. Is everything okay?" asked Mrs. Riley.

Jaymianne believed that Mrs. Riley knew her incompetence even though she was the CEO of the company. So she needed to cover the missing piece on the project Drake was assigned.

'It's not a good idea, Jayme! You are a professional yet, you need to make an excuse.' She scolded herself.

Her eyes locked to Cheslea, who was confidently smiled at her boss. Jaymianne strived keeping her cool yet she was nervous if Mrs. Riley would notice their excuse.

Her eyes locked on Cheslea and a smile curled her lips confidently. Her eyes widened yet she kept her cool. Her secretary made a report as if she knew Mrs. Riley attended the company for the project's progress. She responded with a nod and glanced back at Mrs. Riley, who was patiently waiting for her.

"No need to worry about me, Mrs. Riley."

"Is that so?" She asked as if she knew what was going on.

"Yes, Mrs. Riley. Anyway my secretary is preparing the initial report. I'm sorry for making you wait."

"It's fine. You don't have to say sorry since we just barged into your office without having an appointment."

"We prepared the initial reports since my team was doing the final report and will give it tomorrow. Is that okay?"

"Of course, my boss wanted to have a report today so it's fine even if it's an initial draft."

Mrs. Riley smiled sinisterly formed into her crooked lips. Jaymianne tried to study her actions yet every move was calculated. Her gut feelings said something was off. Or is it just her intuition?

Cheslea noticed the tension between those parties. She sighed and walked to give the documents to her boss. A smile formed on her lips and made her ease.

"Sorry for the wait, Mrs. Riley," Cheslea uttered and placed the files, leaving them alone.

Mrs. Riley grabbed the initial reports and opened them. She read what was on the folder and furrowed her brows. She noticed some reports were invisible and didn't give fewer details like the other meetings they were in.

"There are some questionable stocks in the report, would you mind explaining it to me?" Mrs. Riley asked as she placed down the documents.

She took a deep breath and replied, "the materials were canvassed the last three days and estimated the materials that were suited for the given budget. My team will report the final number of the materials."

"It makes sense… there's one material floating even though we gave the budget. The tiles that was needed to be ordered now in France, right? Should be the materials are here by this week?"

"Yes, Mrs. Riley. We canvassed the best quality for the estimated budget in France. However, it has a delay since one of my team working on it. We'll get it back to you."

Mrs. Riley nodded as she agreed to her statement. It was an uttered excuse yet someone bought the excuse. Well, it was better than nothing to report. It was a good sign when she successfully explained her question without stuttering.

Her eyes observed Mrs. Riley's actions while answering texts on the phone. She believed it was her boss and reported the urgent meetings regarding the materials.

"I'm sorry for the long wait, Miss Mar but my boss wanted me to attend the meeting with him." She uttered and stood up.

"It's fine, Mrs. Riley. I know that it was important so don't mind me."

They shook hands as Mrs. Riley smiled at the CEO. There was something about her actions the whole time and her smile, it said itself.

'Don't think too much, Jayme! You need to trust them as they trusted you with the supplies they ordered!' She thought to herself.

Jaymianne threw herself on the couch and heaved a deep sigh. She glanced at the ceiling whilst rubbing her forehead. It was stressful when the report wasn't finished perfectly.

"You're stressed out, Miss Mar. Have some tea to soothe you," said Cheslea.

She fixed her seat and smiled at Cheslea, who was placing the tea in front of her.

"There's something off with that old lady." She said and took a sip.

"What do you mean?" She asked and sat in front of her.

"Every move was calculated… I know something was off."

"You worked so hard today, Miss Mar, so don't worry about anything."

She saved her boss from humiliation because of their team, who left them behind. She grabbed the files from the meeting a while ago. Her eyes gazed at the CEO, who was very overwrought from the meeting she had with Mrs. Riley.

"Have some rest, Miss Mar," uttered Cheslea.

She weakly smiled at her secretary and shook her head as an answer. Then, she leaned back and sighed.

"You know that I don't like being a fool in front of my client. You made the initial report from our meeting last week so thank you for that. However, Drake hasn't given the report even though he said that he'll give it through email today!" She ranted with her hands clenched.

"I'll take care of that Miss Mar so you don't have to worry about it. Just get some rest and have some fun with James." Cheslea mumbled.

She fixed her seat and crossed her legs and arms. Her eyes locked on her secretary, who was very worried about her body.

Her secretary was devoted to her job and assisted with every problem the company encountered. Cheslea couldn't leave her behind ever since that man broke her heart. She saw her friend suffer from their relationship.

"Call Drake as soon as possible or it would be a great disaster."

"Noted, Miss Mar."

Jaymianne walked outside the office straight to the pantry. She heaved a deep sigh and thought about that 'man' she saw a while ago.

 That man…

Jaymianne couldn't mention that name because the love lingered inside her heart. It wasn't easy to remove the feelings built for him even though something bad happened to them in the past.

Love is blind, accepting the imperfections yet she left him behind became her choice.

Ironic, isn't it?

That's why Jaymianne's friends called her an ignoramus because she couldn't let go of her feelings with him…
