I shook my head as I turned my body around 90 degrees, reaching for the glass of sugar water on the nightstand from mom. "I said... drink up." I raised the glass to level Axe's lips and forced him to open his mouth.

"I don't want to, you haven't answered me yet." Axe refused trying hard to push my hand away, probably still wanting to get an answer from me.

"If you don't want to drink, you won't get well and can't fight for me."

My words managed to turn Axe's gaze into a sharp one. Could I have misspoken?

"You'll stay with me. He can't take you away from me. Tomorrow we will return to Italy with or without his permission." Axe roughly grabbed the glass and gulped down the entire contents, as if Axe's annoyance overpowered the pain at both corners of his injured lip.

Drop after drop of uncollected water ran down Axe's neck and part of his tattooed chest. Oh, I forgot to get Axe some new clothes since I helped him undress. "The drink is from mom," I said excitedly.
