With tears forming in my eyes, I had chewed furiously on the doughnut that I had clutched, sitting in the school’s garden. Nerissa’s words resounded in my head and recollecting the way that she had wrapped her fingers around my neck made a wince escape my lips.

Her accusations against me didn’t make any sense and to think that the Alpha and Luna weren’t ready to hear my side of the story was just appalling!

But what did I expect? Nerissa was their beloved daughter.

The fear that I was never going to meet my mum for the rest of my life gnawed at me. How did I go from looking forward to meeting my mum to drowning in depression?
