Thirty-five: Mila's P.O.V
I looked at the box in my hand, it was small. What was in it? Who would send me a gift by delivery? I have never received a delivered gift before. Maybe my parents sent me something? But they already gave me money to get whatever I want last time they came to visit and my mum also gave me a nice blouse she bought for me since she heard about my new job. Plus, why would they send it as an anonymous sender?
"Are you going to look at the box forever? Maybe you should open it," Julie spoke, snapping me out of my thoughts. I nodded and walked to the couch. I sat down and started to remove the cover of the box. My eyes widened when I saw the Tiffany and co. box I have been holding in my hands.

Mila was in her room getting ready, but this time, the three girls were helping her to look more beautiful than she already was. She had a leopard printed dress on. The top of the dress was heart-shaped with thin straps and it was tight while the bottom of the dress was a little wide. The dress was perfect on her body, embracing her little curves. The dress was her birthday gift from Leila while Julie bought her red heels to match with the dress and Hannah got her a necklace to go with her birthday outfit and she also got her mascara and lipstick."I'm totally in love with this royal treatment! Mila was happy when she returned home; however, her happiness started to fade away once she lay down on her bed. Her mind was bombarded with memories of her previous birthdays with Emma. She remembered how Emma would always wake her up with a birthday cake she baked herself for her best friend. Emma would wake her up with her loud singing and then she would make her blow the candles and give her her gift. At night, they would have a small party at either Mila's house or Emma's house with their friends then after the party was over, they would have a movie night while eating popcorn and candy floss. Mila missed all of that and for a moment, she wanted to pick up her phone and call Emma, but her ego held her back. There was no point in talking to her, and Emma might end up saying something hurtful, but Mila wanted to hear her voice. She fell asleep after hours of tossing and turning mixed with silent tears over the best memories she has ever made in her whole life.Emma was alo

Emma waited in the lobby of the building for five minutes and once she saw Mila, she let out a sigh of relief. She handed her her phone silently and they both walked to the elevator. The two girls walked inside the apartment and suddenly, Mila was not at ease. She did not want to go inside, she did not want to spend the night there. She was only doing that for Emma, the girl who broke her into a million pieces, yet she could not understand why she was helping her. Mila sat in her seat beside the window of the plane and she put her bag under her legs after grabbing the book she had been reading for the last few days from it; she was reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. It was as if the book was screaming her name and Emma's. She could see herself as Cath while Emma was Wren. However, she was no longer sure if it was true or not after what she had done to Emma at her apartment.When she got home, she was so mad at herself for being so self-centered when Emma needed her. She knew she should have put everything aside and helped her best friend out, but something pulled her away from doing that; something she has always hated for as long as she could remember. She let her ego get the best of her and speak up for her, she failed to control it. She allowed her wounded ego to take advantage of Emma's weakness just to get back at what Emma did in front of the others. Her pride and her ego were her worst traits and she wished she could kill them.

"Girls! Come downstairs!" Mila's mum called for them. The two girls went downstairs and found her in the kitchen, making dinner for everyone."It s-smells so good." Emma grinned. She missed Jennifer's food a lot."Can't wait to eat!" I woke up in the middle of the night, feeling thirsty. When I opened my eyes, I could not see properly at first, so I turned on the lamp on my nightstand. I drank some water from the bottle I had beside me, then I looked next to me to check on Emma; however, I did not find her beside me.I slowly got out of bed and took my phone with me to look for her. Something was not right. I knocked on the bathroom door, but I did not hear anything. The next morning Mila woke up and saw Emma still asleep, practically cuddled into her. Mila smiled to herself, feeling happy that Emma was finally sleeping. She took some clothes from her closet and went to the bathroom. She took a hot shower, attempting to relax her tense body after what happened last night.
