Chapter 27: A step back for a step forward

Serene was awakened by the loud ring of her phone. She pulled the eye mask to the top of her head, and grabbed the phone that is just next to her. She didn't check the caller rather speak to it in a grown.

“Who is this?” she asked to the other line.

A voice came, feminine.

“Vanna. This is Vanna, Serene.” Her lids alerted, pulling her body up. She cannot remember the moment she lend her number to her half-sister. How did she know her phone number?

Vanna cleared her throat. “You need to come here. In the house. Dad wants to see you.” Her tone was alarming, for she cannot find any cheerness in it. Vanna never speak to her with this kind of tone. She knew something was up. She wanted to aks why but hold herself.

Traveling back and meeting her Dad and his family is something she cannot say a good thing. Despite her inward refusal, Serene still gave her an okay.
