63: A scary illusion

Aaron’s POV

My victory of completing my mission successfully washed over me as my hand and the knife remained stuck in her chest. Yet, I hadn't seen any blood gushing out and she had cried out in pain or slumped to death from being stabbed with the poisoned knife.

I’d never been more confused in my entire life.

Just then, my eyes had locked with hers as I faced her fully and she was cocking her head from one side to the other as a cloud of immense confusion rested on her face. Wasn't I supposed to be looking at the face of a dead woman? How could a woman that should’ve been dead be stating back at me with such a puzzled expression?

“Excuse me? Why have your hands been pressed against my chest for the past few minutes?” She blinked her confused eyes at me severally and my brain stopped dead for a few seconds.

After I’d properly processed the question she’d just asked me, I looked down at my hands where the knife should've been lodged into her chest, but it wasn't there.
