Chapter 10: The Unstoppable Gentleness

It was originally nothing, but now... The familiar warmth in the man's embrace pained her heart. The faint scent of tobacco mixed with a hint of mint was just as she remembered. Elaine was held by him, and although there were countless reasons to slap him across the face, she had to swallow all her anger because she was Elaine.

She closed her eyes tightly and placed both hands on the man's chest, pushing him away slightly. "I'm fine," she said.

Aaron, breathing heavily, gripped her shoulders with his hands and his voice turned cold. "How did you get hurt on your face?"

The wound had stopped bleeding and it wasn't as painful anymore. Elaine reached her hand to touch it, but before she could, the man grabbed her wrist. "Let's go, to the hospital."

Elaine was pulled by him as they walked. The sunlight was just right, and his tall figure seemed to shield them from all the storms, leaving behind a warm harbor for the person behind him. Her nose tingled, and she quickly turned her head away
