"Let go of me," Elaine said through gritted teeth, her furrowed brows filled with anger.

Aaron's hands held her tightly, making it impossible for her to break free. The past that she had once longed for but never expected...

Elaine mocked, "What's wrong? Did you suddenly remember your deceased ex-wife? She's dead, yet you still pretend to be infatuated. Who are you acting for this time?"

That foolish past always left her unsettled.

Aaron's face darkened, and if one were to carefully discern, his usually inscrutable eyes flickered with a hint of pain. He stared blankly at Elaine's delicate profile, his eyes filled with profound waves.
