To Claim Her Back

"Mr. Locason, this is the baker you have always wanted to meet. Here she is" Mrs Tina said once again as she pulled me closer to her body and made me face him properly.

I feel like the ground should open and swallow me in right now.

I can't believe this is actually happening to me. In this kind of situation, what would you do when you see the most hated man of your life once again after so many years? What would you do when you thought there would be no way he could ever exist again but there he was, standing right in front of you like a ghost who has just been resurrected?

I blinked my eyes again to be sure of what I was seeing right now.

No, this can't be happening! This can't be happening to me!

"It's nice to meet you, Ms. Kyla" He said, stretching out his right hand to me for a handshake. He didn't even look surprised to see me here. He looked like he already knew that I would be here. He still stretches out his hand to me and I don't know if I should take it or not.

Kyla, of course, you're not affected by his presence. Just accept it- My subconscious says to me.

I clasped my right palm with his briefly and I didn't say anything. After that, I tried to excuse myself from there but Mrs Tina's voice stopped me again. I mentally groaned and rolled my eyes. "Where are you going to, Kyla dear? I haven't yet introduced you to Mr Locason here"

There would be no need for that! I already know who he is! I did know this heartless man standing right in front of me!- I wanted to yell that out to her.

"Kyla, this is Mr Sky Locason. He has been our benefactor for a very long time now. A good man with a kind heart. You have no idea how many people he has helped. He makes sure he touches people's lives with his kind gesture" She announced as she introduced us to one another with a wide grin plastered on her face.

I knew he was seeking my eyes all through the introduction but I didn't give him the chance to catch my eyes. Rather, I averted my eyes away, looking somewhere else.

I nodded my head and hurriedly left when an announcement was made to start the event. I took that as an opportunity to escape there. My heart was pounding so fast like crazy as I walked back to the kitchen.

I can't believe this!

Sky Locason?!

He was the benefactor who fell in love with my cupcake. He's the sponsor she's been talking about all this while!

After three years of our divorce, I tried so hard to forget him. And just when I was on the verge of doing that, he decided to show up out of nowhere!

Why exactly is he here? What for?- I thought worriedly as my heart kept pounding in some weird way. It never stopped beating weirdly.

Just don't think about him, Kyla. besides, there's no way you two will ever be back together again. You're never going to accept him back after all.

This meeting is just a coincidence. He never liked you and you know it. Besides, you heard him call you Ms. earlier which means, he has nothing left for you in his heart. He's probably happily married by now with his mistress so, there's nothing to freak out about- I mentally said to myself.

He's probably married to Angel by now. Just pull yourself together. Prove to him that you're no longer the Kyla he used to know. Show him that you have changed.

I supervised the servers in placing the cupcakes on the tray. Now, when this is being serve to the guest, I will have to endure someone in there or better yet, show him the new me. Yes- That will be better.

I continued working and working as I made sure everyone enjoyed their dessert.

"Kyla dear, Mr Locason would like to say something to you" Mrs Tina said the moment I stood by her side on their table. I just finished placing their dessert in each person's front.

I raised my head to look at him with a raised brow. A smile crept at the corner of his lip as he look at me. How dare he act this way? Like our parting was the best one in the whole world.

He has never smiled at me before. In our three years of marriage, I have never seen this side of him so, why now? Why is he giving me this weird calm look? Why is he looking at me like we're some kind of lovers?

"Please, do take a seat, Ms. Kyla... Join us" he offered, surprisingly in a soft tone. The same tone I've always craved for which he never used on me. In the past, he would have yelled at me.

He, Mrs Tina and other important sponsors are here surrounding the table.

"No thanks" I quickly reject his offer without thinking twice.

"Have you eaten dear?" Mrs Tina asked in a concerned tone.

"I'm done eating, please don't worry about me" I lied.

"What do you want to tell me, Mr Locason" I faced him bravely as I asked.

"How about taking a seat first, Ms. Kyla?" He asked again for the second time.

"I don't have time to sit right now, Mr Locason. Now, if you'll excuse me since you have nothing to say" I said to him coldly.

I can actually see the surprised look on everyone's face. Mrs Tina especially shot me a glare but I don't care.

Sky, on the other hand, didn't seem to be surprised at all. He looks like he already knows this would happen.

"I would like to tell you that your cake is the best cake I've ever tasted" He said when I was about to take a step away from them.

"Thank you" I said curtly and left.

A few hours later after the event, I was surrounded by the kids. I could also feel Sky's presence behind me. Not only that, I could feel his gaze on me but I refused to look at him.

"Thank you, Ms. Kyla. We truly appreciate all your love and care for us" One of the kids said to me before they all decided to group hug me. I just love these kids so much.

Whenever I see them, I would remember Hailey. I truly love her so much like my own but, he ended up separating us. I had to leave her behind. I've got no other choice even though it hurt so badly.

I hugged them back and smiled at them. Unfortunately for me, they all left to play leaving me and Sky alone there.

"You've changed a lot, wifey" I suddenly heard him say the moment I planned on leaving.

Wifey?!

How dare he call me his wife! And of course, yes, I have changed!

I turned to look at him raising one of my eyebrow at him.

"You've... changed a lot" He repeated the same statement again.

"Everyone changes, Mr. Locason... You can't expect me to be the same girl you used to know" I answered him coldly.

"Kyla, can I-"

"Why have you come here? What's your mission for coming here? Is there no orphanage home you can donate to except this one? How come you got to know about this place? Didn't you ask me to leave? Haven't I run away from you enough? Why have you decided to show your face to me again after so many years?" I begin to bombard him with questions.

"I came to claim someone back" He said, taking steps closer to me.

"I came here to claim you back, Kyla" He said, suddenly grabbing my two hands and looking straight into my eyes.

Staring at his face for a few seconds and I ended up bursting into a laughter. "This... This must be a joke right?"

Of course, it has to be. He can't be serious right now.

"No, I'm damn serious. I'm here to claim you back as my wife" he said again as he suddenly took hold of my hand, taking me off guard. I didn't see that coming. And I swear, I don't know what came over me, the moment his hand touches mine, my heart fluttered immediately.

"Please, just let me be..." I said as I roughly shoved his hand away. "I don't know what game you're trying to scheme this time around but it's not going to work. Just stay away from me else, I'm going to walk out from here" I threatened.

"I don't care, Kyla! I don't care! I once made that mistake by letting you walk out on me three years ago but today, I won't repeat such mistake again. I will never let go of you" He said firmly.

What's wrong with this guy? Why did he have to show up out of the blue? Why now? After denying me for 3 years in our marriage, now, he's back to claim me back?

Gosh, I just hate him! I really hate him and his gut. I don't know what gave him that impression that I'm going to accept him back. Not after everything he's done to me.

"So, you've finally shown your true reason for coming here, huh?!" I asked with a furious look on my face whilst still glaring at him.

But, what came out next from his mouth made my heart stopped beating for a second.

"Hailey is dying, Kayla! She needs you! Please, you have to come with me" he pleaded in a very desperate tone.
