Falling birds

DAPHNE’S POV

I heard the sound of rain hit the ground, it was not too hard but there was something, odd about it. I woke up suddenly and though my eyes were open I can’t remember how what lead me to this bed the previous night. The rays of the sun steeped in into the room, casting long shadows on the walls. I lay by my side, facing the entrance of the bathroom.

My eyes very heavy and without doubt I knew I had slept for a really long time. I couldn’t feel my feet for some time until life finally came to it; I didn’t hesitate to move my toes as I could now feel down. I remember my hands that have been interlocked together for a long time, beneath my cheek.

I was too lazy to move so I remained in that position without having second thoughts. The bed was too comfortable to leave it and face the real world.

A cold wind then touches me with each gusting a thousand icy needles against my skin. It was a winter- cold wind, not to harsh but cold enough to freeze one to death.

It was so quiet.
