Chapter 18

LEONIE

I watched her go, as I cradled the whistle with my two hands. The queen was such a mean woman, and I just didn’t get her. How could someone make you feel good and bad at the same time. It really didn’t make sense. I just didn’t get it.

I sighed as I looked down at the whistle. The guards were oblivious of what was going on. They saw me as dirt, and of course paid no mind to me, which was good since I wanted to observe what this was closely. I needed to understand what was going on and how to handle that in the best way possible.

The whistle was shaped like an animal. I thought hard, and I realised it was a wolf. Come to think of it, these people had been shifting into wolves. It was just that I had been oblivious to it all.

I gasped in shock. It only reiterated the fact that I had to get out of here. But, I knew I wouldn’t be able to fight them off so easily. I had to do something. But, what?
