Chapter Thirty

She lowered her gaze to the floor, in a bid to avoid the intensity of his eyes, but he wouldn’t let her look away. His hand moved underneath her chin and raised her head up to look right at him, “You understand?” he asked.

Cassandra nodded in response. His hand lingered underneath her chin, as his eyes scanned her features. He wanted so desperately to pull her closer and seal his declaration with a soft kiss, but just like with the other times those thoughts had snuck into his mind, he told himself it wasn’t time. Whatever would happen between them, had to be initiated from her end. It was easily, the most difficult decision he had had to uphold in so many years, and the most challenging.

Reluctantly, he let his hand drop to the side, and took her hand, to lead her back to his bed, “Tell me everything that troubles you, and I promise, I’ll help as much as I can.” He said, as he lowered her onto his bed.

She sighed
