Chapter 33

To say I was on edge would have been an understatement.

We were on the yacht, out on the sea, only the two of us. And yet I kept looking over my shoulder as if I expected the FBI agent to show up out of nowhere. I was sitting on the padded bench near the barrier, staring out into the distance.

Gianni looked over at me, "I'm sorry if I scared you earlier."

I frowned over at him, pausing my train of thought, "What?"

"With how I reacted," he sighed and came over to crouch in front of me, "I know I can be a bit too much with my anger. I'm sorry if I scared you," he took a hold of my hands in his, "For as long as I can remember I have always earned respect by making people fearful of me. I don't want it to be that way with you, but sometimes I forget and my anger gets the better of me. Old habits die hard, I suppose."

He was apologising to me?

"Did you kill Theresa?" I could have slapped myself. I had no idea why I had blurted that out.

He looked up at me with wide, shocked eyes, "What?"
