130: Best Meal

Kai’s POV

There she was again, looking ethereal and irresistible.

“I’ll set the table, you can go get the missing cutlery” She smiled tiredly at her mystery friend as she started to fix the table clothes in their proper spots.

“You’re the best!” The other maid smiled and blew her a kiss before running out of the dining hall and almost bumping into me.

“Oh, sh–” she froze as she saw me standing by the door and the curse word died in her throat.

“I’m so sorry, Alpha” She cowered fearfully as the apology left her lips.

“Leave” I simply told her, more interested in watching Cora from an unsuspecting angle than anything else that I didn’t even hear her footsteps as she scurried off.

After a few more torturous minutes of watching her move tiredly around the huge dining table, I finally let myself into the hall. Barely three steps in and she’d snapped her neck around to check who had walked in, and there was a heaviness in her eyes that I immediately understood.
