Chapter 17: Smell

"Us demons are all the same, wildflower." Sam said, looking back at me over his shoulder. "He knew exactly what he did wrong."

"Now. Jump up. We are very generous in the head start we are giving him." Sam ordered and I looked at his back. He was so tall.

Placing my hands on his shoulder, I awkwardly jumped up and he caught my legs with his steel arms. I locked my feet at his stomach and wrapped my arms around his neck. He held onto my legs while I rested my head beside his. My heart continued to race, and I was certain he could feel its frantic rhythm, pumping blood rapidly through my body.

"You smell nice. Very nice." Samael abruptly said. Saying I was surprised was a heavy understatement, but a single compliment wasn't going to make me swoon. "I know." I responded, tightening my arms and legs around him.

I didn't like this closeness between us. I would never accept a guy this close to me after being so rude to me like he was.
